02 Type-S Stalling issue...HELP?

My 02 Type-S has a strange issue - Vehicle starts and idles. After I proceed, if I take my foot off the gas, the idle will drop to approx 3-500 RPM and stall. Restarts fine, but the problem still exists.

Otherwise, everything seems to be fine....runs strong.

Possible solutions - spark plugs or TP sensor? I've only had the car since October and have put 2000km on it. It's my third TL (the 99 and 03 were leases for 2 years). This one is owned and is my winter car.

Any suggestions?? Thanks guys.

have you checked your IACV? it's under the throttle body and it's easier to access by removing the throttle body (so have a gasket handy). mine went bad about a year ago, replaced it (bout $160 at the dealer) and worked like a charm. i took the time to clean out my TB while i was at it too.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll check it tomorrow morning. What's the check for it, other than simply replacement?

Thanks

honestly i'm not sure, i just changed mine out when it went bad, i guess check the little rubber gasket that goes between the TB and the IACV, and see if it has some heavy carbon deposits. i don't know how that thing works or whatnot.

It may be the IACV. But if it was bad, you'd have a fluctuating or low idle.

You said it idles fine, only after you put into Drive and let off the gas that it stalls, right?

I would look at the throttle position sensor. Do you have any CEL?

Gentlemen,

This is why the forums are so handy and is a great place to hang out.

I tried the easy fix first, which was spraying throttle body cleaner into the TB....worked like a charm.

Car is back to running like it should.

Thanks again guys!
