The Worst Part About Winter......

..... is waiting till spring to put on your brand new summer wheels that got delivered today. Like to thank josh at excellerate for yet another smooth transaction and beating the best price i could find for these wheels. So after 4 months of waiting, the fedex man appeard with these today....

Now i have to wait another few months before i can put these on.
I'm gonna probably be warping them in Kumho ECSTA SPT 235/40/18. Since their specs on tirerack say they can be mounted on a 7.5"-9" rim.

NICE WHEELS!!

SO, so true! I got some 19's (chrome) coming within 10 days and I am going to feel your pain!! Normally here on the front range of Colorado, snow doesn't last long or occur nearly as much as it has this year. We have had close to 45 inches in less than a month I think, and we got snow that is just not melting with sub zero temps. Hang in there! When I get mine, if the roads are dry, I'll do a "test fit" and roll around for a day or two and then yank them back off until April-ish. Just to take the edge off the anticipation....."cocaine is a helluva drug....LOL

Fsttyms1 - I used to live in Minneapolis and that signature mag chloride/salt road spray brings back some harsh memories!!! I washed my car with indoor car washes at least once a week to keep that crap off!! I know you being in Wisconsin, they dump that stuff on the roads quite heavily as I used to travel to Milwaukee via I-94 quite frequently in winter weather....

We had a little freezing rain last night and they dumped enough salt to melt 2 feet worth of snow on the road

Yeah we have been lucky here in new england too. no snow at all, and temps in the high 40's but knowing new england weather we could have snow in april so i gotta resist the temptation and hold out. Plus i need to get tires so if i don't buy tires it will hopefully help reduce the erge to put them on... but doubtfull.. hahaha. I will also have a complete comptech cat back exhaust that i pieced togehter via the blackmarket and thats gonna sit in the garage till spring too..

The wheels set me back $1475 shipped to my door. They are what rays calls cast flow forming, supost to be like one step down from forged but a step up from straight cast design. according to the fedex weight these rims weighed in at aroudn 23.5lbs each. Not sure what stock type s rims weigh but it has to be more.

That is very typical in the mid west!! The amount of salt and mag chloride they use in WI and MN is ridiculous and dark cars like fsttyms1 will show it!!!!!

Hmm well here in NYC we arent having much of a winter but lately with the cold weather and the raining I just cant seem to get a chance to go out and wash and wax the car but then again on the bright side its better then a blizzard where your car becomes immobilzed. Oh yeah nice rims dude show us some pics once you put them on

Nice wheels! I have the same tire- 235/40 on an 18X7.5 Wheel, and i'm very happy with them. Tread wear is not too bad, and they grip very well in wet and dry. My 235's don't rub on a +45 offset so you should be perfect with a +48

And man i'm glad i dont have to deal with those kind of winters. I keep my wheels on year-round and my paint is just as clean as it is in the summer

Good to know.. I tried to do as much research on here as i could when choosing offset, width and tire size etc. I'm glad to see you have no rubbing issues. About how far are you dropped on the nex? I'm looking at lowing the front 2.1" and back 1.6" on some eibach springs this spring and hopefully won't rub then either.

I do like the wheels... Just wish I had the money to spend on a set of my own! I thought, in the midst of things, I'd follow suit and post a, "why Wisconsin winters suck" pic

This is Saturday night (2/3/07) near Milwaukee, WI.
The wind chill wasn't any better, I can guarantee that!
