Winter Mode: Enabled
.. come to find out that I gotta drive it during the winter, I started getting it prepared for the long...harsh... sigh* anyways, heres some pics of me getting my baby ready. I also tried installing my KAIXEN 6000ks yesterday with absolute no luck getting the bulb back in.. so I decided to take off the entire front bumper assembly today to take out the headlight casings to figure out what exactly I was doing wrong. Well, I figured out what I was doing wrong.. so stupid.. lol and decided to install my 6000k HID fog kit + chrome turn signal bulbs while my bumper was off as well.
Finished pics will be up soon.. and look what happened to my K&N filter!! ..it freaking melted! ..wtf is up with stuff melting on my ride. For those of you that have seen my rear bumper + lip.. ya'll can understand my bad string of luck.

looks like the filter is getting smashed into something when the bumper is on.

a good thing for winter prep is Deep Creep- our friend seafoam in a spray can-
use on door locks and hinges- lube the throttle cables and springs-
Use Silicone spray on rubber trim and wax any paint that touches a rubber seal~ dont forget the sunroof!!
of course wax the entire car yadayada
At least you can get low temp windshield cleaner- out here we only get 32, and there is ice on the glass already!! Have to use the spray can deicer or wait on the defrost
Who has a good recipe-safe for paint- to make low temp windshield cleaner??

AEM .. K&N ..they both work/look the same to me. :P
Ugh.. blew out one of my HID fogs by rubbing it against the metal and leaving a scratch on it. It went on..then bam, there it blows. Got my KAIXENs in though, happy about that. All I have left too do it raise the fronts a tad. :/

Ill- make sure to run the new HID bulbs- the kaixens, as much as possible to get 100 hours use on them
Thats the approximate burn in time- then the color will stabilize and get a little brighter too!

note to all- wear rubber/latex gloves when handling new bulbs- or wipe the bulb with rubbing alcohol soaked onto a paper towel if you touch it!!!
Oils from you finger get on the bulb- the bulb gets hot- the oil burns onto the glass and causes a hot spot----
say goodbye light at an early age

I know rubbing alcohol works to lower the freeze point of the cleaner-
the question is WHO has done it and how much?? 10%? and not hurt the paint?

Thanks! ..But there rly isn't anything I can think of that would be hitting against the filter like that. Other than the foglight housing+harnesses, there isn't anything in that space where our intake resonator used to be.

Ionno.. unless a small gremlin went up into the intake bay and smashed it, not sure how that happened.

............
searching around online, a few years back will tell the story as well. i probably have old super street magazines that show the old aem intake ad's with K&N filter's on them.

Jedi Apprentice
Some truth there. origonally they came with true K&N's. then later they used K&N filters made for AEM using AEM caps. now all AEM kits come with their DryFlow filters. The dry flows are annoying to clean and i don't fully trust them to be honest. I replaced my last dryflow with a K&N and was perfectly happy with that.
