Honestly...I have never been quite sure exactly who makes it but what I know from research is that...
I think 3M makes a UV product because I believe they have a headlight restore kit.
Usually if you purchased one of these "special" kits it would be included.
Some other people have got them clear coated with UV in the clear.
^ That's going to be the best option and turn out with the best gloss finish!
When you sanded them down...you took off the protective coating from the factory.
Without it now...plastic will just yellow again...only takes time.

I heard that polish will only be a temp. solution...but it will fade.
So...unless the product specifically has those attributes (UV protection) to it...it's going to fade again.
Something like this...
http://www.deltakits.com/windshield-...oducts/21/659/
^ I'm not saying you need this exact one....but you WILL need a few ounces of UV sealant.
Here is another...Page 4 of this brochure.

That's why if you look at all Headlight Restoration Kits sold...they include 2-3 oz. of UV protection sealant.
Otherwise...kind of sucks to put in the time to restore to watch it turn back to crappy yellow haze.

Sounds good.
As long as it has UV protection...film sounds good.
EDIT:
Just double-checked it...didn't see UV protection anywhere.
It looks like just to be film. hmm...not sure about this product.
This looks right though...
