Cool Updated pics, blacked out grill/headlights

after a lot of work and time spent, and a few mess ups on the way. so here is what i ended up doing.
blacked out headlights, grill, and mud flaps.
also clay bar and wax from Mothers
custom 5000k hid kit for low beams from Xentec, my oem ballast went kaboom on me so i wired up an after market kit. it was cheap and works. also i have LED fog lights from v-leds. the low beams are working great and no leaks in the headlights from installing after market ballasts or blacking them out.

^ i am a little worried about how bright my turn signal is now, maybe time for leds?

^these are 5000k low beams, they just look really blue.

^ painted mud flaps and angle tips (don't hate)

^ two 12 inch kenwoods

^mazda6i 2.5L is my moms and its a great car, handles better than mine.

well, i am happy to say i love the new look of my car and hope you all enjoy

The grille and headlights turned out real good man! Nice work!

I would have painted the splash guards body color .

Far as turn signal brightness goes-youll be fine. Mine are done the same way and they still light up bright enough.

...and like others said-time for a drop!

thanks, i did think about it but i didn't want to spend too much money on it, so i ended up painting it black. i love the way glossy black and NGM mash.

thanks, i like the tips and thats what matters. you need to see them in person before you really take sides on them because i think they look great, and so do a lot of people who have seen it in person. but still to each their own.

thnx, its all about personal preference, I could not stand all that chrome up front with NGM. It used to look like an old man's ass car to me before i blacked it out. I love it now.

^^I like the grille blacked out look better than body color for your car. I think it looks better on NGM. As for other colors like ABP, WDP, FPR? yeah body color would look better.

I was thinking about leaving my chrome surround painted as is on mine and doing the interior body color..hmmm

what type of paint/what method did you use to black out the grille? i've been thinking about doin this to my NGM for a little while but im nervous that if i mess it up i wont be able to get back to chrome (and then awesome, my grille looks like a pile of dead bugs).

also for blacking out the headlights, did you put them in the oven to release the glue? or is there some better alternative that i havent heard of yet?

overall though car looks really nice. and i know im 10000000 to say it, but lowerrrr ahha

i used automotive primer, plastic glossy black spray paint and clear coat. sanded 1000 and 1500 grit. a few coats. buffed it and waxed it.

you wont be able to get the chrome back, i had to sand the chrome off before painting with 300 grit sand paper.

i baked them first in the oven at 250 for 10 min, but after sealing them back up i got a few leaks, so i took them apart with a high performance heat gun and removed all the factory glue, then resealed it with liquid nails silicon adhesive. no more leaks for a month now. i also sanded down the lenses with 1500 grit paper and buffed them smooth with a high speed buffer.

i spent a lot of time on it mainly because i rushed the first time and had to redo it after the leaks (repaint).

its not hard work, just be careful, anyone can do it.

a goldish car with lots of chrome up front was old manish, most other colors look fine with the chrome up front.

You're wasting a lot of the potential in your system pointing them up. Face them towards the trunk :2cent:
