TL w/ 20" Rims
I'm looking for some close up picture of some 2Gen TL Lower w/ 20" wheels
If you are rolling with 20" can you give me some info on you specfic:
1. Spring or Coilover
2. Rims offset
3. Size of tires
4. Anything YOU Think I need to Know
I'm rolling with 19" wheels right now with rolling fender, cut rear tab an rear camber kit. I just trying find out if i need any extra part to make 20" wheel fit right.

Wassup man, since I'm moving to ATL soon, thought I'd help you out. You will probably get some folks on here that will question your choice for 20's. Spending a lot of time here in the south, I can see why 20's are so popular. I've never seen so many cars with 20's on them until spending time down south. I personally won't go higher than 19's on my 2nd Gen Type S just because of ride comfort..even 19's are kinda rough to me, but it's bearable.
Anyway, as you know, 20's are really pushing it on the 2nd Gen TL. If you stay with the same specs (offset and wheel width) you have on your 19s now, you should be ok. I would highly recommend finding a wheel with at least 45 or higher offset (since you have cut tabs and rolled fenders already), better yet 48 or higher and make sure you get the tire size that matches up in overall rolling diameter with what you have now or match it up to the plus 4 size if you had stock 16's or plus 3 size if you have a Type S.
For my Type S, my stocks and 19 combo are both 25.5" diameter and 80.0" circumference. Stock 17" wheels have 215/50/17 tires and 19's have 235/35/19 tires.
To go to 20", the closest I could get it to 25.5/80.0 combo is a 225/30/20 tire, but I'm not sure if that is what others with 20 actually get.
Here is the link for the tire size calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Look for a tire that has a rounded shoulder design like the Falken ST-115 Azenis tire. I have those on my 19s right now on my Type S.
Check the two sticky's at the top of the 2nd Gen tire/wheel forum and you may find some more info there.
Good luck, see you in the ATL sometime this fall!

ok so some guys in the south go overboard but most of them arent driving tls either. Ive seen a 1 or two in atlanta and southflorida combined that have big rims and yeah it looked like an impala but there is that black tl on here with 20s and every one was sayin o shit nice car. i wouldnt do it but nice car.
and youd be surprised more rich kids in the south have 20s and more on their moms escalade and their hyundai than "Ghetto" ppl have them. Ur just thinkin about the really "thuggish" ones. Ill never put 20s on my tl just cuz i want to be able to drive especially in the city of atl. but let the man dream.

Yeah, there's some ghetto junk down here in the south. As for 20's, screw that. You're pushing it with 19's, dont push your luck anymore. The roads in the south suck as well, you will blow a tire and/or bend a rim quick. Money wasted.
As for Njsprettyboy, personally I think thats ghetto as well. Classy approach, but ghetto result IMO, just because of the limtis of the car. Would look great if the entire car were VIP throughout, but once again the 2nd gen isnt a VIP platform.
I believe NJ is running airrunner or something like that. goodluck affording that and 20's
Passed an Orange Impalla SS with, get this, 32's the other day. WTF is that?
Guy I work with knows the guy, said he spent $16,000 on rims and tires on a car worth $3000. Not sure if that true, but thinking about the cost of those tires alone makes me believe it.
Thats just one more reason im moving to huntington beach.

That car and Chirag's both are very well put together. I would not try to pull off twenties, but those cars look awesome.

What limits of the car? When it comes to modding a car, there are some people who like to push those limits, and go beyond the 19X8 +50 safe offset...IE look at some of the TSV guys running the forbidden 8.5" wide rims...The only safe fitment I would rock on my car is my winter TLS wheel setup...even my old rims were 18X8.5 with a 45 et.....

How is pushing the limits of the car "ghetto"? C's TL (njzprettyboy) has all high end equipment, and there are no squeaks or rubs or anything of a "ghetto" nature with regards to his wheels/tires/suspension. Canovers and custom fitted 20's on a pretty much fully custom worked TL in and out will never be ghetto in my opinion. Also a lot of the TSV guys are running custom wheels with so-called "unsafe" fitments too, but they still fit really well, just more aggressive than the regular recommended fitments. Sure some may require rolling fenders, but that's what modding is all about. Sometimes this is a way of getting wheels/styles you really like instead of just following guidelines about what some random sites/shops say fits.
I'm not trying to bash your opinion or anything, don't get me wrong, because I understand that everyone has their own opinion. I just don't agree with the statement about his car being ghetto.
Anyway, I do agree with you about the part you said regarding how doing things like that isn't the most affordable. Sometimes to push the limits of a car to get it to where the owner truly wants it to be, it can get quite $$. But to certain people, having their car the way the want is priceless, because it's a passion in life rather than hooking it up just to do it or just to impress others.
Again, just voicing my opinion.
