PICS!! HID Fog Update with 4100K Philips Bulbs
Folks,
I just put in my genuine Philips DS2 bulbs back into my HID fog setup. These bulbs are actually rebased to have a 9006 collar that allows direct fitment into my fog housing.. Thought I would snap some pics. I still have my yellow Techone 3000K bulbs, but thought I would switch it up for a little while to match my OEM low beam Philips bulbs. They do make a good bit of glare but haven't been flashed yet. I did aim my fogs lower but I think next time I will be sure to get rebased D2R bulbs since they have the ceramic glare strip on the bulb like our stock oem bulbs for the low beams. But, I love how much light I get right up front and on the sides for back road night driving!
Here goes:
To use rebased DS2, D2R or D2C bulbs, all you typically would need is the D2R/D2S/D2C wire adapter harness that you can find on ebay and other sites for about $5 to $20. It looks like this and simply connects to the pigtails of your aftermarket HID kit pigtails. All you need to do is match up your positive/negative male/female connectors of your HID kit pigtails to the pigtails of the wire harness you see on the website. This will help you to avoid trying to splice wires...with HID power, I recommend not doing any splicing and just make sure the plugs match up. Here is the harness:
The rebased HID bulb looks just like a standard OEM type HID bulb except a 9006 collar has been added to the base of the bulb and it does a pretty good job of keeping the focal point where the halogen focal point would be. That bulb looks like this and is available also on ebay. This is a D2S bulb since it does not have the ceramic glare shield.

guys, don't worry..my HFPs are taking a well deserved vacation in the warm basement. I just drove to DC from ATL and I wanted a nice, quiet and smooth ride so I put my 17" chrome stockies back on for the road trip. They'll go back on pretty soon.
Well, I got my techone kit a long time ago and paid $220 for the 3000K yellow kit. the wire harness adapter you see was about $15 for the set on ebay and the rebased D2S Philips bulbs were around $80 for the pair shipped on ebay. I had the 4100 bulbs and harness adapters since 2006 and they have been in storage and I finally just did the swap to see how I would like it. light up the night ftw!!
