Post Nate's ride!

There she is!

I did my trunk install myself. The spare tire slides in under the speaker box, which is permanentally fastened to the car by a nice little bracket. The amp sits in the spare tire on a perfectly round board. It is a very tight fit. The rest of the new trunk floor sits on top of the amp, holding it down. I wanted to install the amp flush with the floor (ala Streetz and really solidly while still being able to get at my spare if I ever need to - this was my solution.

You can see in that picture the bracket the spare goes into and an outline on the board the speaker sits on.

I managed to find some trunk carpet that feels better (more like carpet than velvet) and is a better color match than the stock carpet.

Don't clown on the dangling red wire - thats my spoiler LED wire... I've been slacking on finishing it.

EDIT: If the images don't load, please try again in a little while. My server seems to be having some troubles at the moment. Maybe try this link.

Yeah the wood is great stuff. Easy to install and a perfect match. Bought from Tim, not the Joshua wood kit.

Hey Nate,

great looks with the wood, I also plan to do it but before that can u just tell me is the color of the wood same as the original one ?

And I guess i am asking this question for the first time but might be the zillionth time for you, I want to install a CD changer in my TL, which one is the best ? can i get an indash changer ? Also If i get it installed in the trunk, can i use the indash one too ? If u can answer me then it will be great.

Thanks

Ritesh

Thanks Ritesh!

Yep the wood is a perfect match. I love it. Buy it from Tim though.

Nah, people don't usually ask me about cd changers (I don't have one). But yes, you can get an in-dash changer. You can put an alpine changer in the trunk and still use the stock cd player to play cds.

As for whats the best, thats a matter of opinion. Nakamichi makes a nice one-din 5 cd in-dash changer. Its not flashy and its alot of money but the sound quality is supposedly very high.

But once you change the headunit you need to change all the door speakers... its all too much money for me to spend at once. I'd start saving towards it and end up spending the money on other cheaper mods.
