I've always felt the 2nd Gen had the best looking lines.
I like the 3rd gen, after that, hideous. New TL may be packed with goodies, but it looks like a train wreck to me.

When the 3rd gen first came out I didn't like it. Mostly because it was the first year and they only had the base model. Once the navi ones came out with the white accent in the tails and the type-s version, I think they are dope. 4th gen is just shit....looks like a spaceship. But I have seen some that are slightly modded and they look alot better than how they come stock.

I think the 2nd gen TL was the best... its very classy looking and really has a nice roof line... nothing is over done
the 3rd gen TL is pretty sexy and I like it but not more then a nice clean 2nd gen
the new TL is just a crying shame... allthough with the after market opening up a bit more they are getting nicer to look at BUT brand new off the dealer lot they are not very appealing at all... I was considering a new TL but I just couldnt get past the exterior look of the car

I agree, the 2nd Gen TL's are the best looking - most reserved and classy; your girlfriend's parents won't judge you when you pick her up
However, I must say, I really like the back of the 3rd gen TL-S - I'm a sucker for quad exhaust tips. But, the front of the 3rd gen looks too "weak" for my taste. The curves are fine, but too elegant and boring IMO. I prefer the 2nd Gen's front.

I agree with everyone the Nicest one to me is the Second Gen TL-S the later ones it just looks more like a clean sports car the Third Gen TL is i dont know it looks like its almost a shorter wheel base and it feels more like a box shape which i dont like but aswell i do like the back look of it that is nice
but the 4th Generation WHAT WERE THEY THINKIN i dont know about you guys but have you ever looked at one stock closely from the back it looks like they tried to make a smiley face using the tailights and the back body shape but i am interested to see what the acura lovers are going to do with the aftermarket coming out for it
thats my opinion
feel free to critisize

Didn't like 3Gs at first, looked just like a TSX, but to me their my fave gen right now. I like our 2Gs too, just wish it wasn't so long haha
BTW, how does this thread relate to a photography section forum if it's just all discussion and no pics?

For me I like the 2nd Gens the most. It looks more like a luxury car (VIP Style). Has nice shape n lines. Especially with my stance now, perfect. Dont get me wrong I also like the 3rd Gens. They r boxier, a lil taller, n more sportier looking. But with the rite set of deep dish wheels then it get that VIP status like RodneyNYC 3rd Gen TL, which I feel absoultly in luv with.

when i was car shopping .. i was going between the 2nd gen or 3rd gen .. i favored the 3rd gen only cause of the known tranmission problems on the 2nd gen, my budget .. and cause the body style is decent. it doesn't look that nice compared to the 2nd gen @ stock. but when it's modded.. damn you gotta love a modded 3rd gen..
as for the 2nd gen .. yeah it's the most nicest. not necessarily most luxurious.. cause i know the 3rd gen interior is done way nicer. i like the curves and lines. my only wish is that the oem lipkit and a lower drop came factory installed on our 2G's .. would look way nicer. but then of course.. you gotta pay to play
but if i could get any other TL.. it'd be the 3rd gen tl .. the 07/08 type s. those are beautiful ..

Oh of course, the 07/08 type-s TL's take the trophy for sure for a nice, clean stock look. But I would say the 2G TL's give it a run for it's money, especially for a nice frontal appearance.
So let's compare stock set-ups for both vehicles. It's best if we just keep the comparisons between stock set-ups, cuz if we go beyond that, there are just too many variables to consider.
1st - the face. Both vehicles are blue, Type-S models, and the poses are identical for both cars.
The 3G TL front:
And now the 2G TL front:
Now if we judge by just the front profile - if I pass this 2G at the dealership, I just can't imagine passing it up for the 3G
The 2G front has so much more presence and attitude. It's not overdone or understated (as with the 3G front). I think it's way classier than the 3G. But, I do agree that the 3G does look more sporty, though at the price of an aggressive, dominant look from the front.
So for the record, this post is just comparing the front outer appearances of both cars, nothing with practicality, modernity of the interior, etc.
My vote: for the front profile, the 2G TL-S takes the trophy over the 3G TL-S.

i agree 100 percent lets keep it stock and since i cant post pictures up yet which is gay
im only going to compare the 2nd gen and the 3rd gen i am word for word in agreeance with what you said about the front when we get to the side i think that if the stock 2nd Generation TL-S has the Spec A rims i do like those more but in terms of sport looking the 3rd Gen takes it the boxier frame makes it look much meaner from every angle and the people who see you realize right away that this guy has a quick sports car and the back looks way meaner god damn is it a intimadating car from the back the third generation and with the quad exaust sounds a lot meaner to so
in my point of you the 2nd generation does look nicer in the front but lacks the competetive onlook of the 3rd Generations TL if you want class go for the 2nd if you want and mean looking sports car go for the third
thats my opinion
everone feel free to critize

Safety Car
I had a CL Type-S 2001, and then had a 06 TL and now a 07 TL-S. While I think our 06 RL was the classiest of the bunch, I personally think the 3rd gen is the best looking car overall. The 2nd gen was a bit too PLAIN imho vs many other cars. The TL looks like a german made car, which makes it look sporty. I like the interior on the 2nd gen better though than the 3rd gen. The 4th gen, is nice, but I agree, the grill kills it but we own one.

I like the 2G because it's classy and luxury. I love the 3G especially the TL-S because of the aggressive styling, the wider look, and the power. The 4G's are actually growing on me if you add the RonJon custom grill. The RonJon custom grill is a must if you purchase a 4G TL. A couple of the TL's in the 4G side was modded pretty nicely.

its A Spec, not spec a
no such thing as a aspec body kit or type s lip kit. lip kits were optional at the dealer for all years 99-03 for both tl-p and tl-s trims.

Available only in Canada, Acura released an A-SPEC version of its popular TL Type-S. This edition was limited to 800 units, 400 in Nighthawk Black Pearl (NBP) and 400 in Aegean Blue Pearl (ABP). The differences between the A-SPEC and non-A-SPEC were cosmetic. This trim came with a full painted skirt kit. The A-SPEC featured blue perforated leather accents found on the steering wheel, the shift knob ( which was also different), the seats and the door panels. The rest of the black leather was stitched with a matching blue thread. The front headlights, front grille and door handles were painted same as the body color instead of the chrome found on other trims. Side turning markers were also exclusive to this model. Aluminum accents replace the black ones on the center console and the doors. There were also aluminum Acura door sills on the A-SPEC. The wheels were also model-specific. The A-SPEC also got a new spoiler with red lights on either side of it. To top it off there were subtle A-SPEC badges on the carpets and under the usual 3.2 TL Type-S badges.

those kits were made long before A-Specs or Type S's were around
its just an optional lip kit.
OEM lip kit IS the name of it. thats why we call it that.
