Fresh Clean Updated Pics! 19's and 3A tips installed!! NO 56K!!

Team TL,

The quick flash of springtime weather here in Colorado prompted me to hand wash the ride and install my new 3A muffler tips. Here are the pics of after the wash and after the old nasty tips!!

I WENT FROM THESE NASTY THINGS....

TO THESE NICE NEW SHINY THINGS!

$19.99 each from Advance Auto Parts..3.5" tips part #62-2356

I used BBQ Stove High Heat black paint on the bottom bolt holding the tip on. This makes the bolt look way less noticeable. I should of just painted the back of the mufflers too, but I'll do that later. Since the drain holes for the tips make it so the bottom bolt will show, I figure I would do this. It's hard to see now unless you look real close, unlike when I first installed them, you could see it. I love these tips. The trick to installing is to get the tip exactly how you want them and hold it in that position while gradually tightening each clamp bolt. They line up pretty straight, so I'm happy. Plus my rear lip kit extends out a little which prevents the tip from sticking past the back of the car.

LOL, yeah not sure why I neglected those I take really good care of my car but I think I forget to wash the tips every time I wash it. Plus, the mag chloride they use here in CO didn't help either. Keep in mind, had I washed these before taking the pic, they would of looked better, but the burnt bent edge was beyond just a wash I was just looking for an excuse to get more aggressive looking tips

Looks great.
I may try the tips out today, I just don't have the OE kit and kinda hate the way my mufflers look (possibly BBQ paint will fix that)

After looking at your car (repeatedly) this weekend, I had to call up Honda today and order the OEM kit for my car...getting the tips or new mufflers once I get hte kit.

Your car looks great, very clean.

Yes, I ordered it straight from the Honda/Acura dealership today. Pre painted...surprisingly the back piece costs as much as the front and sides together But, I got it coming. They said they turned all the 99-03 Kits over to another department (forgot what they called it) and they still had a few colors in stock, WP being one of them.

Yo King, the wheels are heavy, but they don't seem any heavier than my OEM chrome 17" wheel/tire combo...I haven't weighed them to find out exactly what I'm dealing with. My acceleration seems a bit slower, but my car still seems plenty fast to me. Plus, once I leave Colorado and we move to ATL later this year, I will have even more HP since I'm not dealing with 40% less oxygen anymore! I remember when I went to Keesler AFB, Mississippi (sea level) just before Katrina hit, my car seemed like I had a supercharger on it...yes, the nearly 6000ft altitude makes that much of a difference in vehicle performance around here! Anyway, more info than you probably wanted to hear LOL , just putting things in perspective.

Glad I could be an inspiration to you Thanks for the compliments. I remember someone had a blue CL-s with Zenetti Five wheels on it and I probably added 75 views to that thread and burned a hole in my monitor staring at those things..then, I pulled the trigger and bought them used from a fellow AZ member.

Regarding your kit, did you check with Tim at Ray Laks Acura? I bought my kit from him for under $900 shipped and painted back in 2003..not sure if he still carries them for our cars, but do a search on that dealership and ask for him. May not be too late to save some cash!

Thanks for the info. No I didn't check with him, ctually didn't really check with anyone. I'd seen them online going for around $1100, which kind of kept me away. I called Honda as a long shot today and talked to my guy in parts, he surprisingly quoted me a total that was $8xx.00...I said send it. Actually I said just send me the front and sides and I was going to order the WW rear which would have come out probably $100-125 cheaper after paint, but decided to keep with the all OEM goodness.

Yo, I'll be down there sometime later this year if all pans out right. I work for a defense contractor, so there should be something in the Marietta area for me to work on! I can't wait to get down there..Colorado is rough on cars with the bad roads and winters!

Nope, I'll just keep the tips and keep the mufflers painted black! I've spent enough on this damn car I love so much

Thanks for the feedback folks. I was bummed I didn't get nominated for a spot in the top 5 second gen TL's LOL!

That ride is smokin'! I'm in Marietta now - about 10 minutes from the back gate at the base. Neighbor works as a flight engineer for Lockheed Martin. Can't wait to see that slick ass ride trolling the streets around here.

You have made some great choices on your car. It looks great. I love the wheels.
My wife says I should have purchased a WDP cause all the cars I show to her are white even though I bought a NBP. I do find myself browsing the WDP thread as much as the NBP thread. Maybe next year when my Jeep lease runs out I'll add a WDP and we can be a two TL family. (Sounds like a good thread)
Anyway, awesome looking car.

Very clean looking. Just my opinion, not trying to start a war.

BTW, I like the tips too. I have them also and more and more people on AZ are getting them. Cheap and look so much better than stock when you have a kit on.
