Lightbulb Drl

Anyone know how to activate daytime running lights on the TL (2002 in particular). From reading the manual, I know the Canadian version has that as standard setting. My dealer told me the U.S. cars don't have DRL's, but I don't always trust them dudes. Thanks.

Just turn your lights on, and never turn them off. Not even when you park it. That way, whenever you turn the car on, the lights will always be on, as well as the tailights (it pisses me off the most about DRL).

hahah! That's weird! I rather have at least the abilty to turn it off and on manualy! I find it annoying sometimes. But have you noticed that the new 02 TL headlights we're kinda made for DRL? The way the highbeam area is shaped looked like it. They couldv'e at least just gave us DRL! The DRL is perfect for foggy mornings tho!

drl

I know they designed the lights to have drl (since all Canadian models have that as standard feature - according to the user manual). My wife's BMW can have the drl programmed to activate if one chooses. I just thought maybe somebody knows a simple way to activate it. What I do normally is turn on my headlights on all the time, but I hear that Xenon bulbs aren't cheap to replace.

Checked out the fuse box on the driver's side and notice there's an empty fuse slot for "daylight" (which I assume is for daytime running lights). However, the slot is not wired at all, so I guess U.S. TL's don't get DRLs after all.:o

I think only Canadian models get them because they are required by law? Anyway, you can do it but I think it requires drilling a small hole in your headlight or removing your high beams. I think it looks hot when your DRL's and HID's are on at the same time. A friend of mine has a 2000 3 series coupe with HID headlights, DRL's and HID fogs and it looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!

He's got $$$$$ though

Absolutely the last post on drl

I agree, I think it'll be cool to have both HID and the other bulbs on at the same time. I think you just need to put in a bulb that has both high and low beam AND install the proper wiring, I don't think drilling is necessary (what do I know). Anyway, I think we've tired out this topic to death. No more posts please.

Seeing as no one as of yet has directly answered your question, I will try. The wiring schematic for the U.S.-spec and Canadian-spec headlight circuits are completely different. There are several components and wiring harnesses that would need to be added to enable DRLs on U.S.-spec cars. Because it is so involved, it has been determined that such a mod is not feasible. And it is not offered by Acura either. It's not like you can just add a fuse or install one relay somewhere. Sorry....

Finally a qualified answer. I figured it wasn't going to be easy to do. Thanks anyway.
