After the detail

Well I just got my TL-S (see my introduction thread with first pics: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/im-proud-new-owner-03-wdp-tl-s-741661/).

This past weekend I had time to bust the polisher out and get the paint nice and clean. Here are the results:

It's hard to get depth in the paint when you have white. The car looks 100x better in person now. The white definitely looks whiter and 'smoother'.

I still have a few things to detail on the car. I ran out of time so I had to skip a few small things.

For those curious I used Porter Cable Random Orbital, with Menzerna IP on orange pad, and Menzerna 106ff on a white pad. One layer of Collinite wax on the car (not the best looking wax but since it last's months and months I decide to go with it. Come spring I may use a wetter and richer wax).

Damn that looks great! WDP FTW! Get some shots in direct sunlight to show off that pearl

I've been planning on doing the same for my car as well, but every time I plan on doing it, it rains

I will, I didn't get finished until later afternoon/early evening so the sun was hiding.

No problem just let me know. It takes the better part of the day. Usually takes me at least 12 hours to do my whole process (wash-clay-wash-polish-wax-clean misc stuff like exh. tips, polish windows, etc.).

The only problem is, once you learn how to get a car to have no swirl marks, every car you see on the road will make you cringe. Nothing worse than seeing a beautiful car with swirl marks galore!

Here is my girlfriends old escort (she has a 06 TSX navi now ) I polished. You can see the major difference in paint.

Paint before:

Paint After (remember there is NO wax on the car at this stage):

How deep are the marks? Yes it's possible but it will be a little time consuming. Best way to do touch up is to take a toothpick and apply layers one day at a time. Then take automotive sandpaper (very high grit count) and sand it all flush, then polish). I use to have a thread saved that told with pictures how to do it. Let me see if I can find it.

Excellent work man. I bet she really glows in the sunlight. Way to bring a nice depth to the WDP, which can normally be quite shallow if not properly taken care of.
