99TL Projector Headlights

Ok!

Finally installed and working! Here are some pics, enjoy! Sorry I had my winter rims on...rather have the Type S rims on or my chromies, but its winter.
Oh and you will notice that the HID's are a little yellow, they are new bulbs and still need to be broken in.

Just a few stats on this retro.

Accord + TL headlight hybrid. The headlight bezel is from accord tyc headlights.
Projectors are valeo ECE d2 with new d2s 4300k bulbs (hence the yellow look). THey have the giant flares on the right to light up street signs and colour flicker is visible beyond 50 feet.

They are fully adjustable via oem aiming screws, the high beam moves along with the low beam.

They look dim due to the limited glare associated with projector retros vs reflectors, just as the 04 TLS look to have dim headlights but bright beams.

This is a beam shot,

How was the drive home Mike ? HAHAHAHA

Looks great OntarioTL! Honestly,
I wasnt a big fan of the "Retro Headlight" that is available on the market simply due to its looks..

But I gotta tell ya, Yours look great.
It seems that alot of dough went into those things, my opinion is, that it's worth every penny

Thanks RevinV12s. Maybe I'll bring my car to the next meet if there is one in T.O. or somewhere in Ontario.

Hey OntarioTL, it looks awesome, it was exactly the vision I had for it. I just got your message and I'm glad it all worked out for you, the car looks awesome with it and you can rest assured that you will be the only one with that set up, that's the beautifull thing about doing truly custom work and making your car unique.

Congrats on completing this project. Take care men! I have to get moving and take some pictures of my new, which is now old project. Talk to you soon.

Damn!! That is a hell of a job!! It looks stock and the light output looks great! I think this is the best headlight conversion I have seen on TL. The other one that comes to mind if the TL with the Lex GS430 front end conversion, but that is a way different setup. Great work!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment. That goes for everyone who have complimented. I will be taking new pics at night....just winter has finally shown up and its getting cold out. To top it off....I need to replace the rear passenger caliper tomorrow...

And it looks like I need to look at the front end for worn out bushings or upper ball joint.....damn the suspension is finky and driving me nuts!!!

no, the tyc projectors are not the same as hid projectors and the output would have been terrible. THus Mike did the right thing by providing me with the audi/valeo d2s projectors for the retro.

Most retros on after market housings involve just swapping the crappy after market projector with a decent hid one. Mike had to go with the valeos due to the small TL headlight in that year.

The optics of oem vs ebay projectors is simply not the same, a few hidplanet members have posted hid in h3 projectors etc and the results are just not the same.

So far ive only seen 1 member who retrofitted a housing with junked h3 projectors that most retro fitters discard after a retro (i usually keep the lens for lens swap experiments) but otherwise after market units are to be used with halogen bulbs only.

Sometimes a little more depending on which projectors you are getting. I'm doing mine with S2000 projectors.
