2003 TL Type S A Spec - "photo shoot" - Bandwidth Warning
Hi everyone,
I promised that I would post some pictures of my "whip".
Here are the best/most unique ones.
If you want more TL A Spec goodness, here's a link to the album:
http://s1010.photobucket.com/albums/...c/July%202010/
Password: acurazine
TAG (for search): 2003 Acura 3.2 TL Type S A Spec
So.
This is my one true love.
I paid my dues as a 17 year old to get her.
I love her.
You do not eat, drink or move while traveling in my car.
Breathing is optional but not recommended.
As an A Spec, she has gray inserts in the seats and in the doors (more in album).
I guess we will never know how many cars are like this due to its unique nature and the fact it is/was only available in Canada.
I have seen other NHP cars with blue accents - so it is not the body color.
I still have the window sticker from the dealer.
The guy I bought her from kept her amazing.
Besides being a great guy, he also has an amazing Supra.
When you buy an A Spec in Canada, you also receive a A Spec Canadian leather jacket. It has your name made into it and the # of your car. No Corinthian leather here.
And, the "drug dealer" show rims:
So that raps things up for now,
I'll post more when I tackle new stuff (replace incandescent bulbs with white LED's).
Thanks & post your thoughts/comments.
For that one person who asks about the camera:
Cannon PowerShot SX20IS

For the record:
-I go over the crevices with Qtips
-Armor-all/"similar product" the wheel wells
-clean under all the doors
-Turtle ICE almost every wash
-Yes, that is 12 YARDS of bark mulch - guess who shoveled it
-Yes, bark mulch is as fun, as well, bark mulch

It still has blue stitching.
My car was one of the very last black A Spec cars produced (thus my name).
After that they started to make the blue cars.
I guess we will never know how many cars are like this.

Nice, I commend you for buying probably the best 2G factory TL available, and a great example at that. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pick it up for?
Looking VERY good, and the leather jacket is pretty damn cool

That 300zx has got quite the story behind it.
I will post some pics of her the next time I wash / run her - very soon.
If your interested about the car:
It has very low mileage and was driven across Canada by the president of Nissan as a promotional car.
The car was a tech / proving car - it had an unavailable combination of options and features.
I live in Victoria BC, the westmost point in Canada that's populated, and pickled it up from the dealership when she came in for the final leg of the journey. The interior is all digital and even has adjustable ride height via a switch inside the car. Most people don't think its a 88 and when they see the tech, they certainly don't. It was also one of the first cars (in general) to utilize a LED 3rd brake light. The keyhole has a LED at night that lights when you get close to the car so you don't key it. Its not a "sports car" its a Touring car. That's my story

13,500$ @ 74000-75000km in the end of April / early May.
He sold it to me as he liked me over the other guy who offered more - because he didn't want just some guy to have her.
He said he knew I would look after her - and believe me I do - religiously.

Nothing like a couple of hours cleaning the engine bay hey?
Actually I always try keep it like that
Mechanics - I feel - treat the car differently when they see the person cares.

Gahhhh that Z is amazing....my dad had a 200ZR and got rid of it...wish I could still hunt it down...one of the rarest Z's to date. Stock RB motor I wanna try and find another Z to just have as a classic. Great job on keeping it clean. Props!

I love those!
Ours has a T-Roof.
The tech and suspension are amazing!
Ill hurry up and get some pics.
The dealer wanted to buy the car back a while ago.
Some new driver pulled an illegal u turn and hit this car one day when my dad was going for a drive.
He left the scene after getting his car together (because he had to get his girlfriend to work ) - the first police car to arrive (he had a Crown Vic Supercharged pursuit car) arrived, then took off after him peeling, laying down quite the strip. close to 8k damage for a simple rear quarter panel - no light damage - just about a foot near the rear mudflap peeled back.
He lied about the whole accident - saying it was completely my dads fault, but luckily there was a witness - the cop then went back and gave him a few more tickets for lying to an officer, fleeing the scene of an accident/crime scene, illegal u turn, carelessness, ect.
Really upsetting.
But, its fixed now.
Crazy stuff.
ICBC authorized more $, on top of the initial appraisal instead of a right off (never really happens) because of the cars condition and rareness.
Apparently it wont affect resale.

Honda/Acuras have to be the best car maker for cars that age gracefully. That car looks like it could be sold on the lot new today. Keep up the great work. It's to be commended oh btw throw those ghetto rims in the Atlantic Ocean asap!!!

one of my best friends has an 87 or 88 300zx, white and has put so much into it. the timing belt broke so he just went ahead and rebuilt the engine and transmission and has suspension, intake, custom exhaust, the whole works done to it and one day when i was drivin my old ford he was in front and he had to slam on brakes and when i hit my brakes i didnt stop...at all...so i tried to swerve into the other lane but bumped him in the left rear bumper...$800 out of pocket. so i love that car haha since i already put a summer's worth of work into it.
I've been lookin at gettin a z31 for a while but anytime i get close its gone.
i consider my TL my baby since i can already tell thats what i am going to spend my time and money on...not to mention it doesn't complain

Nice A-Spec man, but I'm a little confused by your interior. I was under the impression that all 800 A-Specs in NHB and ABP had the two tone black and blue seat and door inserts. And I mean every last one. To see yours not have the blue inserts but have the steering wheel and shifter threw me off. I wonder how many of the original 800 are still roaming the streets around Canada. I've seen a couple in person here in Edmonton.

All A Spec's are so-post to have that blue/black leather combo.
Like I said, I have the window sticker and I know the dealer personally - and the coat.
All the stitching done in blue thread and the rear seats are also gray on black with blue stitching.
All the door panels have the same gray leather.
All the trim it the brushed aluminum/steel/whatever metal.
This may just be one of the last black A Spec cars out of the 400.
I actually parked just recently beside another A Spec (of course, it had the blue/black).
Personally I love the gray interior - I really do.
The uniqueness is also great.

Read some article on it.
I think if I remember correctly it was some Canadian initiative to get Acura going - as people wanted luxury Honda's.
We also get special edition Civics with leather and more tech.
More HP ect.
There is also Honda/Acura model's and options that are not sold in the US to appease the Honda craze.
Notably:
Its called the Acura CSX and the Acura EL.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_CSX
These are major moneymakers in Canada.
My friends grandparents have a CSX and it is very, very nice.
Paddle shifters, full leather, backup camera whole 9 yards (Think RDX Tech Pkg).
There's also a Type S CSX - Civic Si with more HP.
Its made in Ontario - at the Civic plant.
Back in the day there were more only Canada Honda's and Acura's.
They do this to say thank you for your loyalty.

About the spoiler, there are lights on top witch you can't see.
They are white during the day, but have red LED's at night - very slick.
The side turn signals on my car are also replaced with clear ones - looks waaaay better than stock.
Ill take some more pictures so everybody gets the idea.

Same thing happened to me when I bought my Accord. Definetely makes you feel honoured, doesn't it?
#36
It really does.
I try so hard to keep my stuff 100% - I really mean it.
I've kept in touch with him too.
He has an Amazing Supra as well.
He really kept his baby in amazing condition - he gets the credit - I am continuing on with that care - that's why I have her.
You may ask why I refer to the car as a "girl"
Well, as all girls, she has a temper and believe it or not - it really does shine through!

Get some picks with your Drug dealer wheels! I get tons of compliments on my 20's even thought I think they look ridiculous and they rub the fenders if I have passengers in the back and hit a bump or take a turn too hard. I think that I can buy that spoiler online somewhere just have to find it again. I took a close look at that blue a-spec the other day. Guy must hand polish not even any buff marks!

Word of advice: Don't get too attached to your car. As much as you'd like to believe it, it's not gonna last forever. Humans suck, and someday will screw you over with this car. Continue taking care of it meticulously, continue enjoying it, but don't fall in love with it.

thats depressing as shit lol. however true it may be...
