Wow, white lithium grease and coil isolators > *

So I've been trying to figure out how loud I have to turn my radio up to get rid of the clunking and creaking sound coming from my suspension. Well I turned it to 11 and finally gave up.

Climbed under the car the other night and removed my Comptech sway bar bushings and loaded them up with white lithium gease.

Went to Acura and purchased two coil isolators from the MDX, cut them into 2-3" pieces and wrapped the springs on my coilovers with them.

Got in the car and went for a drive. I can't tell you how happy I am now. No clunking or squeaking whatsoever.

Actually the sway bars are great. It's just that the bushings that hold it to the frame need an occasional grease.

The squeaking is from my TeinSS.

I can go look but if you call the parts department tell them it's the coil isolator for the MDX. They will know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, my rear bushings were frozen onto the sway bar from lack of lube. Took me a minute or two to peel them off. I guess the winter salt barrage didn't help.

it's been about a week and they still sound great. No clunking or squeaking.

I heard the new CT sways aren't prone to squeaking like the old ones...I think they use different bushings now?

a little trick i learned is to apply some anti seize compound on the inside of the bushing of the sways to help prevent squeaks and such.

CT needs to get their act together.

Yeah I read it on the 3rd gen forum a while ago, but I figure it only took me about 10 minutes to remove and regrease the bushings. I can't see needing a grease gun for anything other than that so I'll stick with my method.

Cool idea though.

The squeaking was metal to metal from the coilovers.

I had a clunking sound coming from the sways. It sounded like something was loose, which in reality was the exact opposite of what was really happening.

Mine are still fine. I'm get the clunking sound in the rear from the sway bars when it's cold. I think I might need to regrease them.

Did you glue the coil isolators onto the coils? Are they still there?

nsxnext - if you get the greaseable ones and the $15 greasegun, it would take you 5 mins max to grease all 4 bushings. =P hehe, just kidding, but actually i need to do that coil isolator, my car creaks all the time when its cold w/ the TEIN SS.

yeah I checked today, still there.I wonder if i've developed a new noise............while checking I messed around with it and I want to say the noise is coming from the dust cover(that plastic accordian looking piece). But I know it might be a bad move to remove that.I noticed it is loose and kinda just sits there..Any thoughts about this?? Maybe there is a way to tie it down?

Dammit. They only had the rears. Went to Autozone and they had the Red bushings but still no 5162's. Going to call around now. Both places had problems even looking it up in the system. It must be something either New or Little known to their inventory system.

ES lists two different part #'s on their website. The 9.5162's and 9.5169's. Could the 5169's be closer to direct bolt ons?

Did they have the fronts? Or did you not want these? I went to Autozone right after and they had a VERY similar looking grease gun for 10 bucks. Going to look closer maybe save $5.

fyi, i believe they only make 1 size in the 22mm greaseable bushing, but there are two diff sizes for the front 27mm. the one i got was better for me, but i'm in a CL, i dont know if it's different. mainly bc the bracket needs to sit in a groove, its not entirely flat on the front. so the long bracket would have been even harder to fit in there. but you guys might be able to get away with it.

also i picked up the 22mm ones at pepboys for 20+tax. but i couldnt find the 27mm anywhere so i sucked it up and ordered from summit. i got my greasegun at home depot, i think it was 15$ and it came with 1 tube of lithium grease. pepboys now sells them cheap too.

Damn Clean! Why didn't you say so before? Hahaha. I was almost bitching these people out for not having the 5162 (front). And coincidentally, I looked it up on Summit too. Was trying to figure out what shipping would be since it's 30% cheaper to begin with, but you have to fill out damn near all your info Beforehand. So...looks like I'll be sucking it up too!

What's the part number on the MDX coil isolators? They don't isolate that part online.

It was part of a technical service bulletin for the MDX. I doubt you'll find it in the web sites.

Called a couple places and they're asking for either the Tech Service Bulletin # or the part #. I'm on hold with Tischer though. They're usually damn good from what I've heard. Follow along as I try to hunt down the rarely seen MDX spring coil isolators!

side note: I'm telling them it's an '05 if that makes any difference.

No luck with local dealers. Can't come thru as usual. I played the run around game over the internet too. Did a google search, ended up on a MDX forum, which oddly enough after some research guess where I ended up linked to from there?.....Right back HERE on AZ...hahahaha. Anyway, there is a TSB listing that goes back to at least 2000 (where I started my search) up to 2006. I did a search there and came up empty from 2000 to mid 2003. If anyone finds the TSB # or part # for these coil isolators PLEASE post this up. I have my buddies down in Atlanta researching it also, I hope they come through and I promised a little bit of added business if they did (hint hint).

NSXNEXT, if you wouldn't mind retracking your source for this and seeing if you can find the info I'd personally be appreciative. I also thought to ask you this, if you could somehow purchase more I'd be willing to pay for at least 2 complete sets, as long as the cost wasn't outrageous. Let me know how you can help. Thanks again.

...The hunt continues!

they only cost like 5$ a piece, you should only need 2.Then you need a weatherstrip adheasive to apply them to the coil(after cutting one up into 4 even pieces). Good Luck hope it works for you...........I now believe my clunking is coming from the plastic dust cover as the coil bottoms out,it contacts it causing an accordian like action which in turn make this "noise".
