Arrow Is it worth it???

...to install a turbo or a supercharger on a TL?

What do you guys think?, I like the idea of installing a turbo but I m not sure if it's worth it. I also already read other posts about the turbo in the forum.

Thanks,

any turbo would be complete custom work. With the SC atleast there is a kit. And whats "worth" to you. If you could afford it i would, but only after all the other mods are done like intake header and pulley

What I mean with "worth" is, if I am going to spend $10k in my $10k car, to have xxx HP which will give me a powerful engine that can go from 0-60 in 5sec. and a fast 1/4 mile, then I have a $20k car, then I better off selling my Tl and buying an 1999 E55 for $20 and avoid the hassle.

The reason why I m asking is because I don't know the pricing for all these mods and I m not going to be able to make them myself, I would like to install a turbo in my 99 TL, but if is going to cost me too much $$$ and only give me 40 more HP is not worth it.

Thanks,

I've seen Comptech's bolt-on for something like $4000-$4500... If I remember correctly, there was one custom turbo kit done that ended up costing $8k... I can't give you any quotes on HP, so you decide if it's worth it

Any kind of forced induction is going to cost you a lot of money. The SC kit from Comptech is $4,500 just for the parts and if you don't own an 02-03 TLS, you have to adapt it to other 2nd gen TLs. A turbo is complete custom work. Buy the E55 or another car that you've researched and know ahead of time what mods are available.

No it's not worth it. The TL should not be Turboed. SC maybe, but it's still not worth it.
