VIDEO - Mid Muffler Delete at WOT

Team TL,

Last Thursday I got my mid muffler removed at Midas for $54 out the door, not a bad price. I think it sounds great and I can't believe how different my stock exhaust sounds now. On the highway, just barely louder but when I get on the gas, it has a nice sound. Again, I left the round resonator on after the cat and I only removed the mid-muffler just before the split to the dual exhaust mufflers.

I have an 03 Type S with just a K&N drop-in filter and my intake resonator is still on the car

Here is the video taken yesterday at the Tail of the Dragon meet we had. Thanks to CL-Slick for hosting it.

I think some people experience the rasp when the round one is removed also, but others have no issues and it seems all cars sound different. i'm sure factors like intake type, headers, muffler condition and other things contribute.

I honestly have never heard my car outside at WOT before so I can't say what it sounded like before. I know when I rev the engine and drive in lower gears around 2500 rpm, its deeper and louder for sure. if anything, its cool to hear the vtec kick in on the video. maybe the guys who heard it in person can chime in on what they thought it sounded like.

Humm... If you don't have an aftermarket intake or the intake resonator removed, then I can absolutely tell a difference in sound. Especially after the shift. That is not engine. It sounds a little softer than an intake.

You did this, correct?

What is the resonator after the cat? It has some kind of wire/plug going into it as well. (With the heat shield around it)
(Don't mind the Magnaflow resonator before the straight pipe.)

^^^Yes, mine looks just like that now. And yes, all i have is a K&N drop in filter in the stock airbox and my intake resonator is still in place.

raspiness only comes from a leak...anywhere from the headers to the xhaust...

Would removing the mid muffler gain any power? If so, how many HP? 1? 2?

this is mainly a mod for more sound..perhaps 1 or 2HP if this allows for a less restrictive exhaust or something I dunno

Sounds great, I think I'll be removing mine as well since it's so cheap to do. VTEC crossover was very nice. I love the duel personality of our engines.

I think the 2nd half of the video as the vtec sounds off shows the exhaust sound..not so much in the beginning...i know for a fact its louder and after driving 475 miles this weekend, that little growl was there at about 2200 rpm and 80mph for sure..not too annoying but obviously there.

Thanks Amgala!!!! I am very pleased with my choice of wheels..they balance out perfectly everytime and they are strong!! hit a monster pothole at 50mph and no damage or bends...i bent some old cheap ass chinese wheels on smaller holes and lower speeds! not these though!
