V-tech controller

My friend was telling me that they make these and that they allow you to control when the V-tech kicks in. How much will it cost, is it difficult to install and is it harmful on the car? any information would be awesome thanks

Yes, Apex'i VAFC and VAFC-II. If you look on eBay, they range anywhere from $200 - $350. You will also need the FROG ECU Harness if you don't want to splice wires to install it. Its slightly difficult to install if you don't know what your doing.. but if you know somewhat about cars, it should be fairly simple. The hardest part is taking apart your dash to fit in the FROG ECU Harness.

Is it harmful? ..yes, it can be if you set the wrong settings for it for your car.
Eg. There are a couple Vtec modes on it (4 I think) ..and setting it to the wrong one can do harm to your ECU+Engine.

Changing the point where it engages is pointless. The ECU is tuned optimally for where its at.

And gold2003tl, if you search the forum you will get all your answers. Emanage is about the best for us but you will need a dyno tune (and its capabilities on our car is limited).

Kris is correct.. engaing Vtec @ lower rpm's doesn't rly give any hp.. and the only way to get hp outta the V-AFC is to have pretty much all the N/A bolt-ons and have a local tuner shop tune it for you.

DO NOT try tuning it yourself!! ..leave it to someone who knows what they're doing!

Yes, without the modded car on a dyno, it is impossible to tune the controller for any beneficial results.
