Question Type-s intake manifold conversion

I have read that the type-s version of the TL has a "dual stage intake" as opposed to the regular, and when looking at pictures i notice it looks a bit different...

but the question here is, does anyone know if it is possible to plainly replace the intake of my TL with that of a Type-s????

would the bolt pattern be the same and such, and has anybody done this before?

all help and criticism is appreciated

thanks

if your going to replace the intake just get a cold air, or a comptech icebox for that stock look, it also produces the most power. also a type s intake wont fit, i belive the trottle body is bigger

Yeah if u look at the different CAI for the TL and Type-S. The Type-S has a 3" DI. and the regular TL has a 2 1/2" DI. I might be wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

ahhh, thats quite the idea. See, if the type-s has a larger throttle body, then there must be more power potential...

does anybody have any pics of Hockeyman's engine bay?

Here's the S manifold on my TLP...

notice the butterfly valve, this is what opens the second chamber...

this is the actuator, which opens the butterfly via cable...

this is the unit you must buy to control the actuator, your ECU can't open/close it since you are not a type S. you must have this otherwise the conversion is worthless.

I also have a type S throttle body which has been bored, i recommend a S throttle body otherwise you will not have the full potential power the conversion will produce.

Look to spend around $500-$700 for everything if you find good deals, i got lucky a few times here on the for sale section. Buying it new will cost a hell of a lot.

Look to gain somewhere between 15-20hp for all this. This is one of the major power differences between the P and S.

BTW your old TLP engine cover won't fit either...haha
