Hello, i'm new to this site and i wannd to ask if i can possibly put a factory naigation system in my 2002 TL-S because mine is a non-navigation 1. I know that i'ts gonna hard to do because when you think of it, it's not just the navigation screen i need, it's also the different climate control system that is now in the navigation's place (that needs to go where the little accesory box is now), the different faceplate for the hazard lights button, i would need to install the DVD rom somewhere, and i would need to mount a gps recieer antenna too. But if someone can find or has a whole kit at a reasonable price, i'll buy it from them.

It is possible to do but it's not that easy as you have listed you will need a number of parts.

Did you try looking on ebay for one? Time to time someone seems to be selling the entire used Navi-package. You could also look for an aftermarket one instead.

 

I would put in a aftermarket alpine nav system. The factory nav is an alpine and also they have the most POIs and road coverage out of any manufature (Last time i checked)

Anyone know where to get a cheap copy of the new nav DVD? 150 bucks is way to much. Has anyone ripped the DVD? I would like to get a copy for "Information purposes".

 

thanx, but if i want a stock Tl navi for only 2 reasons...not because i like it, not because it has the best coverage, no because i wanna spend twice the money than a aftermarket 1, the ONLY 2 reasons that i want it is because (most important) 1.it fits in the dash so don't have to put it on your window or dash or wherever, and 2, because it also controls the climate controls and therefor it's integrated with the system. othere than that, there is no reason i would want it.

the only alternitives i could think of is if i replace my head unit with a pop-out screen that i could use for navi, or if i get a pocke pc navi so i can hold it in my hand or eve wal around with it and know where i am...it's also compact.

 

Two good reasons. I have the stock nav and i love it. The console looks a heck of a lot better and the touch screen for nav and climate controls kick butt.

I just wish that it could play DVDs, use voice activated commands (bought my car one year to early for that) and have the new traffic / construction alerts.

I know it is possible to hook up a dvd player to the screen but the nav is under the cars warrenty (woult not want to mess that up), and in europe they have a module to hook up for the traffic, anyone seen one for the US?

I hoping to find a fouth gen owner that will let me or anyone else rip the DVD, so i or another person can put it on TorrentSpy.
