suspension

I dont want to spend $500 or more on coil overs... can I buy something that'll just lower my car an inch or two at the most without spending a lot of money?

Depending on the condition of your shocks you may want to do shocks and springs. If so I'd recommend TEIN S-Techs and TOKICO HP shocks for the best bang for the buck. PM me if you need links or pricing.

If you do want coilovers and you can stretch your budget a bit I'd recommend the TEIN Street Basis coilovers:

It's a great daily driver setup with a fair amount of ride height adjustment. And it isn't stiff.
