SC Question
i'm about to boost my 2g with comptech's kit, and i have the stock and high boost pulleys. now i was told that it is necessary to get a tune if i go with the 6-7psi of the HBP. is this true? what would the effects be of just using the HBP w/o getting it tuned? also, maybe someone on here knows how much oil is needed in the gearbox where the jackrod meets the blower unit?
is it supposed to be full? and yes, i do know that comptech says not to seperate that elbow, but it's too late now- it was already seperated when i bought the kit. any help is greatly appreciated.

No tune or engine manage system such as greddy blue e-manage is needed if use ESM (electronic signal modified) from Comptech with normal boost. With HBP, ESM can/might handle fine, but tune and using e-manage such as greddy blue or ultimate e-manage is highly recommend.

still havent tuned mine yet

did u get gauges?...i did but they rnt in yet tho...prolly do that then tune...
YMMVThe car has given me many miles of reliability/enjoyment thus far.
Now, I must say that I am in my 40's and looked at this car, when I purchased it, as a long term investment. I drive it REASONABLY hard and maintain it very well.
If you can find a reputable tuner in your area and are worried that the HBP will blow your engine based on your driving style (frequent stop light to stop light, balls out runs) then yes you should tune. IMHO
Otherwise, put it on (HBP) and see how it goes.

i have a S/C'd CL with HBP with no tune. im running fine only thing i think im running a little rich though. i need to fine a reputable shop to tune mine. i heard the s/c'ers should get tuned but ive heard of people running them with HBP with no tune with no problems.
wouldnt getting tuned produce a little more hp? if so by how much?

you guys have to remember that us here in Cali can only get gas with octane 91. Higher octane can get away with no tune but it is highly recommend to tune with 91 octane. Sure, car can run fine with HBP and no tune, but why take the risk?

sounds good. so being new to this, how does one go about locating a reputable tuner? is it the "knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy" thing? please say no
