Recommended turbo and psi for stock 2003 Acura 3.2TL Type S

Hi, new member here, I got an 03 TL-S, and after watching this video
I want to boost my TL, after asking around, I found a great local mechanic who's had tons of positive reviews from people, has done J swaps into Civics, and boosted them, and seems to know what he's doing, I've been quoted ~1500 for a full turbo kit plus labor, but minus the turbo, my question is what would be a good turbo to use? I was thinking a T25 like what's on 2g Eclipses and Mazdaspeed Protege as I'm looking to do a relatively conservative tune of ~5psi, what would you commenter recommend as the max psi (the mechanic said j32a2 can handle 10-15, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, and have more than one opinion) and what turbo do you guys recommend?

i'd be wary of some one who can fabricate and tune the car for $1500.

on the 3G TL side; we've been experimenting with ebay turbos and even then, the parts come out to $5000 minimum. you're looking to spend at LEAST $5k

0 psi if you're still on your Automatic Transmission

I should probably mention i just had it rebuilt (same with engine) and although I don't have a CL-S tranny, I do have an Accord V6 tranny for just in case anything happens again (already got P0740 3000 miles after rebuilt)

^still i'd be wary of the turbo fabricator that says he can build it for $1500.

He's well known in the area for J swapping 1988-2000 Civics, and than boosting them afterwards.he's done it so often that he can do it in his sleep he says, IamM3performance in Central Florida, (as the name implies, he does BMW stuff as well.)

^go for it.
if he is as good as you say he is, he will have no trouble recommending you the things you need.
he will be able to tell you which items to grab as he is the one that will be fabricating and tuning your car. he will have first hand knowledge of the items you need.

Good luck, sir

Just curious as to whether or not this ever happened. I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I know... It's just a slow car... Better off starting with a fast car and making it faster...
But I like to have a car that everyone thinks of as a slow car, with a nice little surprise under the hood. The tranny is my biggest concern though...

^what is your budget?

read this thread

it's our very own thisaznboi who completed a turbo set up. trying to do it on the cheap....but it came out no where NEAR cheap.
set aside $10k

and you have an automatic??? :rip:

$10k??? No way... There are countless other cars to buy for that and still be faster than a turbo TL lol

but it is fun to smoke mustang 5.0 and Camarro ss in a grocery getter :p

if it is 1500 for just the manifold I would believe it. A whole kit then we have problems.

You also have to think about fuel, tuning, and etc.

then the the cost of brand name turbo, blow off valve and wastegate. eBay intercooler and piping are okay.

If if you are serious about going boost I have a turbo smart blow off valve I could sell you and a hondata 4 bar map sensor.

But it really considering going forged internals
