So I'm going to get my back windows tinted (fronts are illegal up here in IL) and I can't decide between 18% and 5%. Will 5% look bad with nothing on the fronts?

Fronts are pretty much illegal everywhere. Just go for a subtle tint up front like 35%. Most cops aren't really going to care. I have 20% back and 35% front

 

when i had my old car in jersey i put 5% on the rears and 35% on the front ... i got stopped once in about 7 months of having them before i sold the car. and jersey is really tough on front tint

 

i guess you could say rear door windows and back windshield.

for now i'm only tinting the back windows. would just 5% on those look bad with no tint on the front?

 

federal law states that u can have anything in back and 35% in front, state laws are stricter, so the state could either agree with the federal law or make theirs stricter. illinois is nothing in front and anything in rear.

i know that u already probably saw my car but this is how 5% all the way around looks.

No it wont i had mine like that for a while kuz in Ca they trip about your fronts. Get the back 5% and later do the fronts 35%

^^ GREAT looking TL, but the tint sticks out like a sore thumb. Kinda ruins the look.

 

I live in Aurora and i got 20 in the back and 35 in the front... never got any trouble for em yet kinda wishing i went with 20 in the front too but hey that 15% difference could be keeping me under the radar.

Tay119- go to logan square detailing, pm for their number, i got all my windows tinted 5% for $120 or $125 life time warranty. my friends best friend works their, did an excellent job

 

it's 110 for the back windows. not sure about the rest.

Honestly, 18% and 35% would flow the best, but its all about preference.

 

Damn wish i wudda known about that before i got mine done. i paid 160 for all of em with lifetime warranty.

 

i think that's what i'll end up doing.

my is that your going to regret it unless you tint all the windows the same % dark in the back and lighter in the front looks alright on coupes but sedans in my head should have the same film i live in the chi i got 20% all the way around and only have been stopped once in woodridge but cops really dont look at the tl as some punk with tints.

as long as you keep it classy and dont do burn outs, tail gate, cut people off and other stupid shit. cops will let you buy. i've seen escalades and bimmers with really dark all around and they seem to not get hassled

 

PA sucks - only 70% tint all windows. its not worth following the law hear in PA. any car that has factory tint can keep it in PA, but anything else is 70% all around hate it. you people are lucky cus you can have some windows tinted kinda dark. ill prob just tint 5% and try to bs the cops haha. ill post some pics if i ever get a tint along with the tickets ill be getting.
