Thumbs up Rare!!! Comptech Cat back in a TL-P!!! Done~

ok so today i have installed the comptech b-pipe and it went smooth and perfect fitment on my TL-P, it was not supposed to fit but here's a reason why:

you do need a Type-S cat converter

I bought a type-S cat from a CL 6 spd and this will be the solution for those who wants to install the b-pipe on the TL-P

for the first time i install the b-pipe i thought it was going to fit with my cat-converter, but i was wrong

it looks like it's going to fit but the flange to the b-pipe does not fit because of the smaller diameter on the TL-P piping

even you mess up the b-pipe and make the flange fit, then there's another problem:

the b-pipe will fall one inch short to the axleback

reason: the type-S cat is one inch longer than the TL-P cat

without the type-S cat you will need to make an extendsion to connect the pipe, which u will screw up the piping, but with the longer type-S cat it will fit perfectly to the axleback

drawback:

1. my axlebacks had extendsion to sticking out to the bumper b4 for a better look, but since i put on the b-pipe it now pulls back to the normal length of the regular comptech mufflers, sticks back in a little bit but not touching the rear lip, but since it fits perfectly, who cares???

2. another draw back is you will need extra money to get the type-S cat which is NOT CHEAP at all, they might be costy on the already expensive comptech b-pipe and axleback, but since i bought them i didn't want to sell them so i just went ahead anyways

3. if not going for the type-S cat you will probably need 150-200 dollar labour to make it fit, and u will mess up your expensive comptech pipe

overall:

yeah i spend a little too much but i am happy with the result, it certainly gives a lot more flow and the sound is a lot DEEPER right now

i didn't test out much performance since i had to carry the stock pipe home with my trunk lid half open, but i will let u know how the difference, but sound wise it's a lot better than jsut axlebacks, but not annoying, still consider quiet in normal driving

conclusion:

if anyone want to do such setup on a TL-P, i recommend you to have a type-S cat on hand or else it will require a lot of work for it~

if not then u can wait for my exhaust when i decide to part out

Great post, Now you give me ideas that will have to spend more $ on.
When you put type S cat and CT B-pipe, Can TLP's stock rubber work with the new setup?

with all the money you have spent you should have just bought a type s to start with.

This setup is rare only becuase it will not produce any significant gains unless you are planning on getting some sort of FI.

do you have to do custom work on TLP to make B pipe fit? I am interested on how it fits into TLP's exhaust rubber hangers. Thanks

fuck a type s, why go type s, and get higher insurance, when u mod a tl-p and get the same insurance for a stock tl-p its a big difference....im primary driver for my insurance, im 19 years old, and drive a 99 tl-p. $460 pet month.

460/m for insurance is fucking high as hell. i pay 70/m for full coverage on my 99 tl-p i'm 26 thouh, but still 460/m is fucking retarded, i hope you made a mistake on that.

If you are paying $460 a month to insure a 99 TL you must have a terrible insurance record.

I wasnt even paying that much when I was 18 and had a new car.

I'm in the same age bracket as you. I've been suspended twice, but have 1 point on the record now. 2003 TL-S, primary driver, paying much less than 300 dollars per month.

So, umm, what was that about "fuck type-s, higher insurance"??

Your logic stops short, because the same principle applies to the Type-S. Mod a Type-S, and a modded TL-P is not catching it, while still getting the same insurance as a stock TL-S.

canadian insurance, and american insurance is different. here a type s will get u higher insurance rates than a tp-p. trust me. and i dont got a terrible record. its cuz im under g 2. i dont have my g yet, going for it next month. price and last week aug 8, was my 1 year wit my insurance comp. i renewed it wit em, and they dropped it 70 bucks. so im happy with that.

i live in brampton, population around 700k. toronto right there, plus all the highways, different if i lived in the boonies...

it all depends on who u go with. my rates are actually cheaper then like allstate, cooperators, and all those other places, u shoulda heard when me and my mother were lookin for quotes, 600 here, 800 there...im happy wit 460 a month, that aint shit..

since teh Type-s hadnt been made yet im stuck with the TL-P and it wouldnt be cheaper for me to buy a Type-S than modify mine to those #'s due to resale and my miles a year. some couldnt afford or coldnt get the type-s. Just buying a TL-S isnt always the answer

i could have do that too, but i just don't want to mess up the b-pipe, keep it original so i bought a type-S cat instead

and with that way will have a lot of adjustments on the piping to make it fit, not worth the chance, lucky i found a type-S cat so it all good now

and type-S cat = higher flow~

that taken in a lot of factors why ur premimum is lower for your car

do u have other cars in your family? most likely yes coz ur family is here....because the more cars u have in the family you get a bigger discount

and since u r in london most of the time, there's an discount for such situation that if u r only in TO on the weekends only, it will have big discount since they assume u drive in london more than in TO

also how long ur family members have insured? i have been here for only 9 years so we are only in the lowest rating class (20 yrs or more) and there's a difference too

i only have one car, not out of town and only 9 years of record, so it certainly makes a difference compare with a multi-car, out of town and longer insured record
