that looks horrible IMO. why not just mount the radar detector in the grill and put the remote display on your steering wheel column. i ran that setup with the valentine one on my civic, worked just fine.

i like the fact its in the center but some of these units are entirely too big to be just plastering up like that, v1 especially. i have a escort and im getting tired of where its sitting...actually i'm getting tired that the suction cups give up every now and then. will have to figure something out

what state are you in. last time i checked i thought you could not have a radar detector, and if that is true that is in plain sight of the cop. i would keep that thing on stealth mode.

Only DC and VA ban radar detectors. It's been that way for years.

I like the idea better than sticking the radar in the middle of your windshield. If the radar in the pic was a bit smaller it wouldn't be such a problem. I like the idea though

Does putting the radar detector in the grill damage the unit at all. I mean with rain and all the engine heat, that wouldn't fuck it up? I've got an Escort x50 an dI have the controls on my steering column, I would love to move the detector. Nothing is worse than having the suction cups give way while you're driving and have the detector swinging in your face.

Mounting a radar detector in your grill is the stupidest idea I have ever heard for one yes it will damage it and two it defeats the purpose of a V1 because it wont be able to detect from behind

BUT HOW AND WHAT DO I MEASURE FOR THIS MOUNT?

if you had a passport, you wouldnt need to worry about the suction cups giving out... hehe. im sure i just started WWIII....

as for the legalities, radar/laser detectors and laser diffusers is and have been legal in every state except for VA and Wash. DC. Radar jammers, however, are 100% ILLEGAL. FAA said so... lol.

ohhh, and guys, when they are talking about the grill, i think they are talking about the remote mounting with a conceiled display..

Plain Valentine-1 will NOT Fit 3/4 or 23 mm in the following cars:

We do not make a mini mount for the valentine at this time.

Acura

^^^ thats from the site. but even how would you properly aim it doesnt the arm off the rearview move with the mirror. youd have to comprimise. just mount it with the suctions behind next to the mirror just below the tan line.

I personally have mine hardwired so that the suctions cups are behind the "tan line" and when the passenger sun shield is fully foward, it ALMOST touches the right side of the V1.

This is a triple win because...
#1 you could barely see the V1 from the outside (suction cups are fully hidden)
#2 you still have rear detection since the rear view sensor sticks out from the right side of the rear view mirror.
#3 you do not block the autodim sensor like you would with the rear view mount.
#4 the higher you mount the detector the better.

You put a $400 radar detector in your front grill? Thus removing your rear sensor capabilities, and making it easy to steal?

I leave the cups on the windshield and just slide the V1 on when I want to use it. I've had mine like this for over a year with no issues.

There are two DIY threads on this forum that discuss hard wiring a detector in our cars. If you go down the route for wiring it into your fuse panel this will come in handy and make the mod a lot cleaner. Link to Add-A-Circuit
