quicker shifting

Just a thought, on a 1999 TL is there any way to adjust the shift any faster.

faster like what? lower rpm? or from gear to gear quicker?

if u want split second shifts, the lexus LS can shift in thousanths of a second. if you want anything else, i dunno, 6 speed manual?

No, what I meant was faster reaction shifting. When you shift it takes about 3/4 of a second to shift. The 2000 and up with the 5-speed tranny shift alot faster. They bang gears, mine granny shifts. The shift delay is a little slow on the 99 models.

the 2000-2003 also have tranny problem. if u want to shift faster just throw a manual in.

And its not a result of faster shifting. The made them shift faster to help eliminate the problem.

Unless you find someone to crack the ECU for you to change the maping inside there isnt a way to make them shift faster. If you were to open the trans there may be a way with the valve assemblies to make it have more pressure to shift faster? So in other words NO there really isnt.

Ok, the OP asked an honest question. I feel obligated to reply in spite of the controversy. Just remember that “he asked”.

Yes, there is a way. Use Mobil 1 Synthetic Transmission fluid (multi vehicle formula). I have been using it in my ’06 TL for the past two years. No problems at all…just quicker and firmer shifts.
