Questions about headlights

Alright guys I have a 03 AM TL-S and was wondering how to blackout the headlights and getting brighter HIDS. My choices are 6k and 8k. And im curious about the wattage on both. Can anyone give some advice? And how long does it take to do the blackout? Has anyone done spray paint? If yes how did it turn out? Thanks much appreciated

Your gonna want to go with 5k for a ultra bright white with a hint of blue or 6k bright more blue anything higher doesn't help you at night. Blacking your headlights not really a good idea unless u dont drive at night. You are suppose to spray em black with vht night shade but if I where you I would look on eBay for pre cut tint sized to fit the headlight. I already blacked out mine and it looks hot until its time to go to work at night and you are face to face with your windshield cause you can see lol maybe a light spray won't hurt if you really want that look. I ended paying $130 for a new pair.

Changing the bulbs will NOT make it brighter. The higher the K you go the more blue it gets and the less useable light output. Blue is not cool, it doesnt help you see. The ONLY way to make it brighter is to do a custom projector retrofit or upgrade ballasts and bulbs to a 55w kit. To Black them out properly you need to take the headlights off and open them up and black out the inside.

Thanks for the input. 55w 6000k kit sounds good? Hows the 6mt doing? My friend Rob from Chicago told me you know a lot about the MT swap. And you think spray paint will be good? Also which clear coat should I use to do it?

Personally I wouldn't go over 5k. 6 speed is doing great. Over 200k on it and going strong. Original clutch too. Yea spray paint will be fine. Just find a gloss enamel and part it with that or get your car color put in a spray can and paint it body color. Then get a clear from a auto parts store.

So blackout almost done but I need to do a condensation test to see if I sealed both lamps tight. Hoping all goes well
