Project: Black Housing Headlights

Well, I having trouble with painting my housings. I tried it with my old broken housing, and hella forgot about the chrome corner and painted over it. And I've searched around the threads for 03 TL headlight projects but no one seems to detailed on how to tape the chrome part without damaging them when taking the tape off.

I rubbed chrome part a little and it was coming off, kinda scared to paint now, I only got my 2 remaining housings left, and those are the keepers.

so please; need advice on painting the housing and finding someway to keep the chrome part from damaging.

thanks in advance.

its extreamly fragile has you have noticed. You could try some blue painters tape that is for senstive materials. IN the end though since the chrome got screwed up, i just painted the bottom and sides of the turn signal area black also, but left the back part chrome, its a different type, seems stronger than the side and bottom of the turn signal area. Soi would say try to mask off the signal area with the sensitive blue tape and see what happens, cause if it does come off when your done, then u can always just paint those areas black after like i did.

still drying the other one...but it turned out pretty nice

i just shoved hella paper towels and masking tape on the edge of the chrome so it wont damage it.
