port and polished intake manifold questions

Hey guys so i drive an 03 tl-p, and was wondering if i could could replace my current intake manifold for a port and polished one? i know there is a difference from $300 dollars for a tl-p to $800 dollars for a tl-s manifold.. so i was wondering if a PPIM would fit? thanks guys, i just think it would help, i have H/I/E and TBS.

Yes, the 09+tl intake. You will need an adapter for the TB to bolt up to it, but they are available. Then just port match your lower runners to the upper manifold.

No, you cant get them from napa. Get the adapter from the link below.
More than a cold air intake (which you should run as well. Most saw the best gains from a 4") You could use your tl-p tb, but you would be better off running the type-s tb, or even better the BLOX 76mm tb.

Supposedly the 09 intake is lighter, stays cooler, and is a little shorter from what I've read about it. I'm just curious to know if its shorter by enough that you can install MDX spacer and not cut the hood.

no it wont fit even with the mdx spacer. also it is half the weight, made out of magnesium alloy so it doesnt get as hot, and it is the largest intake manifold you can put on besides the dual throttle body set up

I'll have to get all the parts and mock it up. I would rather mill the spacer down than cut my hood up.

Do you have headers? If not do that will gain you the most power for the money. P2R makes an adapter but I couldn't get it to work on my car and after trying for hours I finally gave up on it. Others were able to get it to work though

You would probably be better off finding it used for even cheaper.

Also try this link and see if you can get it cheaper than this site.

Post number 16. You also will need the intake manifold to lower intake manifold bolts and studs because te tl-p are shorter. You need 7, 95701-08065-08 and 2, 92900-080601B. Yes you need the throttle body adapter.

I easily pull on any stock second gen. I have traction problems from a stop even with a 235/40/18 tire. I pull on my friends 3rd gen, all he has is an intake. I drove a 4g 3.7l 6spd and my car felt like it had more torque and pulled alot harder. Once I get my 09 intake manifold and custom 4" cai on I imagine it'll be insane. After 4,500 rpm the car pulls so hard.

Here is a recent video and I had a terrible start. I couldn't keep traction when I took off from 0. This is the best i recorded

I just but my 09 manifold on last week and left the butterfly valve open I don't feel any loss of torque but I imagine if i had the butterfly functioning correctly it would give me more torque down low.

The tl-p and type s throttle bodies bolt up the same the only difference is the type s has a larger opening.

I have my stock Type-S intake manifold set up now, thinking of doing the 09 mani swap. whats the deal with the butterfly valve? Can it be kept functional? Also is there any difference in the 09 base TL and the SH-AWD mani? Is it also bolt on if it is different?

This will probably be my next mod after I put my DC's on.
Also Stephen00TL do you have a write up on your 4" CAI?

You need to get the one off the shawd I beleive it is bigger at least where te throttle body connects. Some people said they had the butterfly working but others said there is no way to do it with the type s IMRC. I just left mine open. I don't have a write up for the 4" intake. I still need to finish it because I have some hoses not connected I've just been out of town alot lately. I clan show you a picture and all the materials I used if you want.
