Official replica oem lip kit thread
So far we have a lot of people whispering about replica kits such as this one from ebay seller importautovilla
http://stores.ebay.com/importautovilla_Acura_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ20 364695QQftidZ2QQtZkm
this guy is even selling ones that are already modified to fit the 99-01s.
The only information we know so far is that fitment may not be perfect. But for all the feedback listed, they say they can always get it to work. Our own azn_xxxd has one and his lip kit looks perfect to me atleast.
We also know that it is made from an ultraflex fiberglass and not from poly urethane which would be ideal.
With the rarity of the oem lip kits and the obvious high price tags, should the diyers buy this kit; prep and paint it and call it good? Or is the quality so bad that we should go straight to the real shit and hope we find one for less than a grand?k
All input and experience would be great because I am really curious too and hate being the guinea pig.

I personally would pick OEM.
But look at the accords, civics, integras of today...most oem kits are now replicated in the same material as the one posted in the link.
Hell with the rarity of the OEM kit and the price tag, I say go on and get this if you're not worried about cracking and material.

say you do hit something hard enough to crack part of the kit.
wouldnt that cause enough damage to a real oem kit to atleast mess up the paint?
and what would you hit. i've never heard anyone crack or even badly scratch anything but their front lip.
so you would have to shell out 200 just to get it repainted or buy another one from the dealer pre painted for like 300.
i see no real risk from getting a fiberglass kit.

my brother rammed my front lip up to the curb..
he said.. oops.. i checked the damages cuz it sounded pretty bad and it was all nice and perfect.. jus scatches on bottom. no real damages..
im guessing front lip/bumper went up and over the curb/parkingstickthingymabober
i say if i were to have the replica one.. it would have just shattered... but eh.. who knows unless we try.. haha

i would feel horrible if i broke a 1300 kit but if i broke something that was only 600 it wouldnt be nearly as bad.
600=350(kit)+250(paint)

well i had a fiberglass lip and a poly urethane lip on my old integra which was stupidly slammed so low that i managed to break both of them just by taking a parking lot entrance too fast.

^rofl^ an as for fiberglass, I had a ricerocket 2001 accord with a fiberglass R34 kit and it cracked like there is no tomorrow. I had to keep bringing it into a shop to get it fixed and eventually just bought a new kit. Definitely not worth it. Funny thing was I actually was about to buy this guy's oem kit until I picked up a good ol' used wings west kit.
(And yes, I drove very careful (no more than 30 mph unless i know the road) and it still cracked due to dips and occasionally going into a parking spot too fast.. YOU KNOW IT HAPPENS TO YOU TOO!!
GL on the buy and oh yeah, tally how many days it lasts plx thanks.

not too long ago some dude on here bought a kit and the sides had no mounting brackets. The inside was all bare, how the hell are you gonna clip on the sides if no brackets?! I hope this kit isnt like that.

you screw it on with some wood blocks and screw it onto the car itself like that shop who did the 350z..

if joe shmoe ebayer can install it, i don't see why we would have problems.

Ok there is a solution for this. I used to do the other ghetto way but hahah not looking good as this one.
Ok so as the one that on ebay that has no brackets and anything. Here is what you should do and trust me its going to look the same as the OEM.
You take the oem side skirt and put it inside the "fiberglass" one, then tight it up with 3 screws. That it now put it back in just like the oem one hahha.
To be honest, no one would recognize mine isn't oem lol. You have to be 2 inches close and kinda hitting it hard to see if its oem or not hahha.
Anyway good luck man, pm me if ya need anything.

haha looks like the exact same guy from the previously posted ebay link
he even uses the same pictures which a certain forum member must appreciate
anyway i think i'm going to go this route especially after seeing that it comes in black primer so i may get away with not painting it for a while to make sure the whole thing doesn't fall apart.
cant wait for my next next paycheck now.
