I did get an update a day ago, but was hoping to get a bit more by end of week.

Short story is that the front and rear mounts were shipped by the manufacturer and received by the vendor. The bad news is that the side mount was not received. The vendor has been trying to run that down and that's the part I was hoping to have an update on. Once the side mount is received, the vendor is going to send them to me. Once I get them, I'll let everyone know . . . and share some pics, but note that if there are problems with the install and or testing these may not be the final product.

Also, our vendor was out ill most of the past week . . . most likely the swine flu, so that slowed things down a bit.

Anyway, I'm ready to roll as soon as I get them.

I really don't know nor have I been given any sort of clue. My expectation is that they will be close to OEM, which is about what the others were. Now what were those others? all 3 were around $330.

Here's the old link for the Innovative Mounts . . . I think the 3rd gens may have worked, but 2nd gens are no good.

Well folks . . . I'm not getting any warm and fuzzies on getting motor mounts in time for Christmas.

As of Friday (11/20) the vendor is still waiting on the 3rd mount (rear) from the manufacturer.

Like many of you, I'm wanting and needing them now. Matter of fact, I'm going to another member's house Saturday to do poly filled mounts on his mother's TL because they can't wait any longer.

As for me, I'll keep working with the vendor on getting some quality performance mounts for us 2nd gens.

Instead of typing a separate update here, follow this link to the CL thread for the rest of the story.

Repost: wow . . . what have I missed.

I know it's hard to trust this issue with the mounts. We've had so many disappointments, wasted time, wasted money and more. Anyway, several of us have been dealing with this problem for a long time and there are no real short cuts. That's why I've not pushed XLR8 any more than PMing him for updates. We've tried to find some alternatives for some time now and this is the first time that we've had a vendor take point and own it, and that's why I've been hanging in there.

On a side note, I noticed some increase in wheel hop last week and checked out the front mount and the bushings were finally starting to give. These are the 3rd gen Innovative mounts that have held up for 1 yr. That makes them the longest surviving mounts to date. I could deal with replacing the bushings every once and awhile, but that's only part of the problem. The rear OEM mount I installed 11 months ago is also giving out.

We're all in the same sorry old leaking boat. It's a shame Acura didn't address these crappy mounts and left it to their customers - maybe ex-customers - to live with it. They're just sticking their heads in the sand saying that it's those modding guys with all the problems. We'll it's not, little old ladies are having problems too. This is no joke as I've replaced mounts on a friend's mother's TL. There are a some of us that can replace these on our own, but it's still a time and money pit. And even more so for those that have to pay to have them installed.

I have spent a lot of time trying different mount designs and believe that it is a bigger challenge than even Acura could resolve. And probably why Acura never came out with their own solution. We need a long term fix to this problem and XLR8 has committed to having a quality product made for him that he will then stand behind. We didn't have that with Innovative. It really stinks having to wait and nurse our cars until we get something, but I don't see anyone else lining up to offer us a solution.

Well well, haven't you folks been so very good and patient, so guess what.

MOUNTS ARE ON THEIR WAY!!

Should be here in a few days and will post some pics. Note, these are field proto types so please keep that in mind.

By the way, are there any 2nd gen 6spds in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area that I don't know about?

Are these prototypes from XLR8, based on the new mounts for the 3G?

It's the same manufacturer, so I expect there to be some similarities, but don't know for sure. Once I get some pics posted we can compare them. But based on the pics you linked, I'm a bit worried by the horizontal bolt design, meaning the bolt that goes through the bushings is horizontal . . it's too similar to the Innovative mounts. My opinion is that the vertical design I tried to talk Innovative in developing is a better design, but we'll see . . it won't take long to know whether they'll work or not.

I'm sure the product is better, but the problem was more with the designs ability to absorb force . . . there's less surface area to do so with the horizontal design. It also resulted in premature bushing failure, as noted in several pics from multiple members. Keeping my fingers crossed as it would really add to the delay if we have to push for a redesign.

Well, just this part with the new mfg has been going on this long . . . the overall motor mount deal has been going on for much longer, so let's pray these work.

Oh, the front bushings on the 3rd gen Innovative mounts are finally wearing out after 16 months, and the rear OEM I installed about a year ago is failing as well . . it's all really worn me out. I can't even recall how many times I've pulled the mounts and played with all sort of different options . . so here's to putting this issue to bed.

Field test mounts have arrived.

Won't have time to do anything with them until the weekend . . . .

They're definitely different than the Innovative mounts. Not as pretty , but look like they will be better . . the question will be how much the address the vibration problems.

I'll post pics once I get a chance.

If you're even thinking about aftermarket mounts you may want to hold off. Is there any way you can poly fill them to hold you over?

Sorry, there's no way the field testing and then production will happen that quick. My best guess based on past experience is that it'll take them 2 months before they would be shipping final product . . . I feel your pain as I've driven with busted mounts for a long time . .

Just posted pics of the field test mounts from Excelerate on the CL 2nd Gen Forum. I also posted the pics of the Innovative mounts as a reference.

Here's the link.

Mods, can we sticky the link to the CL forum. I don't really want to repost updates over here, but will if that makes sense. At least until we get a working set of mounts.

Well, I wish it were awesome work . . . things are still going way too slow. I've tried to see if we can get the heat turned up a bit. I know there are a lot of CLers/TLers that really need a solid fix for this. Honda/Acura should be shot for their piss poor motor mount design . . . it's cost a lot of people money and time.

those guys look like RTABs

The same exact bushings on BMWs

I never wondered why it needs a swivel design when the poly does not flex (causes vibration)

My mother's TL is having engine mount problems and I can't believe there isn't a single aftermarket mount thats worth doing. I might just stick to OEM.

They should try a design like this:

I have those guys in my m3 and have had over 30k hard miles; street and track and no issues at all. and they are near hte headers (Heat)
