need some help with lowering
im new to the whole world of lowering a car and ide like some help.
i have an 02 tl non type s pretty stock other then CAI.
i was wondering how low i can go on the stock rims without rubbing?
and ive been looking at th H&R springs that lower 1.75F 1.5R and was wondering about using them on stock shocks and struts, ive read its done i just want advice on the subject.
and if i go with the H&R's and can use my stock shocks and struts for now do i need anything other then the springs to lower it?
i dont have alot of money to play with but i want to lower my tl this spring so any ideas are a huge help.
thanks in advance and sorry for being a noob lol.

ide love to but i dont have the cash. do you think the H&R's are a good drop or should i go tiens and go 2" all around. i just want it to look the best without breaking the bank.
i plan on changing shocks and struts before next winter. do you think if i lowered it on stock shocks and struts it would make it threw the summer fine?

I believe Ingallls is a good kit.
Camber is the angle of the wheel and hub, therefore when you lower with larger wheels, they wont always fit correctly....Therefore, with a camber kit the wheel sits angled it fits nice and snug...

depending on your mileage you will really want to change out your struts, 50-60k miles is general rule of thumb to change them out. since you have to take both the shock and the spring to lower the car, you might as well replace the strut. kyb gr-2 are good replacement struts and are cheap.

+2 I put springs on with existing oe shocks at 36,000 miles. Struts [at least one or two] were blown in 1,000 miles. I personally like h&r/kyb over eibach/tokico for ride comfort. You'll probably need a camber kit for the rear only.

camber kit is so much money for front and back and i dont plan on huge rims im staying between 16-18". and i found gr-2's on ebay for 211. and springs are 198. are the cambers really needed cus 400 to lower my car 1.75F seems like alot of money for that almost 2"s lol.

Start saving up, i had my lowering springs for over a year before i even lowered the car. I bought my Springs for 170 (Tein H-Tech) and my shocks (KYB GR-2) for 126 on Ebay. This was probably a couple years ago...not sure what the current prices they are selling these now. My car isn't as low as the H&R Sport, but I don't need a camber kit with the height i have. Best thing to do is be patient with car parts and search for good prices. The most I ever spent on my car is probably the rear lip and the TL-S wheels. Good luck with project TL.

yeah man, save up. suspension isn't something you want to go cheap on. i know you didn't say anything about it, but someone might recommend you clip your springs. DO NOT DO IT! very unsafe. when you lower your car (at least with H&R sport) you will need a camber kit or you will not be aligned properly and will cause premature tire wear. you might want to look into getting new shocks if they are the OE shocks or if you've put over 50-60k miles on them. do a press test over each wheel. press down hard on the fender/quarter panel and release, if the car bounces up immediately and stops your struts are good, if it bounces up and keeps going up and down, your struts are busted.
