Keep it maintained. Seafoam, good gas, keep it out of VTEC. Highway driving is much better than city on these cars due to the weight.

Big no on the chips, my intake helped a little as long as im not driving hard, same with a freer flowing exhaust. Thermoblock spacers might help a little, keep it tuned up (plugs, oil changes, ect) and try something like seafoam. The BG air induction service is VERY similar. I did it on mine and go a big diff in power and gas mileage.

use some good fuel system cleaner like the new Amsoil PI, BG 44K or Gumout Regane. Plus everything everyone else is saying and make sure your car is aligned properly and tires are inflated to at least 35psi, 38-39psi for best mileage.

I know it's kind of stupid question.
But, what's seafoam?

A cleaner.

Use the Search button under the banner "acurazine" next to the "Your Account" for seafoam. there are plenty of threads on it and DIYs on how to use it

I can't which is why I usually average 330 or so mixed driving per tank.

Yeah with my 02 TL-S the highest I get is like 17mpg. I try to drive nicer and have done all the routine maintenance and that is what I am left with. I don't mind all that much cuz the car is fun to drive. The only thing I have not done is clean the intake manifold and EGR port so I am going to do that and hope maybe that improves things even just a bit.

when you clean the intake manifold and egr, do you just use brake cleaner? and does that stuff like evaporate out, or do you need to like towel dry the inside of it.

Don't use brake cleaner on any engine parts.
use throttle body cleaner or carburetor cleaner.

B&G is very simialar to seafoam just u cant do it ur self due to that u gotta dump one bottle into the gas tank then two other bottles into a canister and hook it up to a air compresser then it sprays it into the throttle body (also gotta remove the intake) for bout 5 mins then wen ur done u put the intake back on start it up rite away u dont let it sit. Lets out the biggest white smoke ull ever seen bigger then a burn out. Then just go on the gas till all the smoke is gone n ur done. Im going to do it to my car next week so ill see the results

Maintain yor car, change oil & air filters at regular intervals, I use Castrol Syntec 5w-20. Maintaine your tire pressure. I recently "seafoamed" my car.

I have gotten as high as 36.8 MPG highway @ 72 MPH with cruise control engaged.

I installed a K&N air filter, synthetic oil and had the transmission replaced about 5k miles ago. The highest mpg I have been able to achieve is 31 and that was going 80-82 with cruise control about 60% of the tank. My wifes old 4cyl- Honda CRV- only gave us 23 mpg tops!

Does anyone know how much a shop will charge to clean in intake manifolds and egr ports and how long it should take. I've heard that when its rellly clogged then the engine light comes on. I have about 75k miles

I get about 400 kms per tank which works about to about 15 mpg here in Toronto. Of course our gas has god knows how many additives and the cold weather really f's with your mileage.

I got a K&N are filter about a yr ago. I think it needs to be washed, plugs are NGK platinum, tires are 36 psi, I always drive on cruise and rare go to vtec so I don't know what's going on here with the mileage. I do a a couple of amps, subs and box in the trunk but I really don't think that the sound system can affect my mileage so much

Any idea about the above would be appreciated.

actaully a sound system could affect ur mileage it using power from the alternator which in turn works ur engine harder not to mention how heavy the sound system is in your trunk

My Agree with big pip, I get around 30-33 MPG highway @ 80-85MPH, with the occasional vtec usage (just can't resist to hear the change in tone of the engine, reminds you that you have more than a 'family' sedan). After all, why have vtec?
Also 01tl4tl did a bang up job with my brakes and seafoaming my car and it now runs like a dream. I'm at 145,000 miles, original engine and tranny....just can't beat Honda workmanship

Just put a can of BG 44K this time and fill it up. Fuel light just came on the other day. And I get 280 for 14 gallon of fill up that average just about 20 mpg. This is 50/50(city/highway), doesn't sound like good mileage.

I have still have original spark plugs(52K miles) in it. Just put in a K&N air filter.

Do you think that good mileage? I mean city is suppose to be 19mpg and 29mpg for highway...so I should average around 23-24mpg.
