Magnaflow mufflers

I went to the muffler shop yesterday to put 2 magnaflow mufflers on my 2002 TL. When I got there the guy told me nif I solely replaced the mufflers the sound would be not noticable and that if i want the sound to be noticably louder I have to take off the resonator. I do not want my car to be too loud nor do i want to have a high pitch rice rocket sound. Is this the right way to go?

lol risk? Try running it without a resonator like i did. Our cars will never sound like a rice rocket, we have a v6, not a 4 banger. I eventually grew tired of the droning so i now have an 18" resonator along with custom 2.5" piping.

Just buy a aftermarket resonator, I got a 22" I think and it was a slight but noticable amount of noise with a low growl.

I am about to install two Tsunamy mufflers on my 03 TL-S and I never heard of taking of the resonator but if I dont get results I will look into that. I was thinking of just installing a bigger high flow cat and new bigger pipes from the cat all the way back.
