Just Called OEMACURA PARTS for 3.5Conversion!
Ok, after doing all the searches around the foums and also tried honda-acura forums. Also a big Help from CleanCL who told me what parts are needed for the conversion. I talked to OEMACURAPARTS. The weird thing was when i asked him that i am converting 3.2L to 3.5 a 2003TLS he was surprised and told me its the first time some 1 is doing that and buying the parts from us. I told him alot of people did and 1 of the customer from you gave me the phone number to get the parts from you. Anyways, he didnt know what Exactly parts i needed so i told him the few parts which i need for Conversion. They are As follow By their Prices from OEMACURAPARTS. Please tell me what other parts will i need if they are not Listed!!
The following items are priced from a 2007 RL: crankshaft, $256.59 connecting rods (each) $70.94 piston ring sets (each) $30.14 cylinder head gaskets (each) $38.24 Since these parts are from a car that is still new, I don't have them in stock, but I can have them in about 1 business day or so. If there's any other information you are looking for, please let me know. Thanks! -Lee 866-347-4510

Weeeeeeeeell, this just proves that I know nothing about conversion to 3.5...I thought there would be lots more parts to get it to 3.5 point. Do you have any idea if its possible for 2001 TL-P?
What are the gains that you are expecting out of this project?
Oh and of course, keep us posted on how it goes and when you get your parts.

I LISTED ALL THE PARTS THAT WORK.... YOU CAN GO FROM THE LIST THAT I POSTED AND GET ALL THE PART #s THAT WORK.. Yes there are ALOT of parts, but i gave you all the options of WHAT and from the years work.
Once again here is the part list of WHAT works
BLOCK/HEADS (incl. manifold (upper/lower), tb)
------------------
J30A1/J30A1
advantage: no modification needed.
disadvantage: no torque until turbo/sc kicks in.
J30A1/J32A2
advantage: mid-range and top-end power
disadvantage: J30A1 pistons have to be modified to fit large J32A2 (intake) valves.
Not much torque until turbo/sc kicks in.
J32A2/J32A2
advantage: no modification needed, mid-range, top-end power.
disadvantage: torque is still ok but better than J30A1
J35A4/J30A1 (Odyssey '02-04/ '00-02 Accord V6)
advantage: no modifications needed, great torque, nice mid-range
disadvantage: top-end power
J35A3/J35A3 (Acura MDX '01-02)
advantage: no modifications needed, great torque, nice mid-range
disadvantage: little less air flow than J32A2 but very close.
This option looks like a good choice if getting the complete engine or even separate short block and cyl.
heads/manifold due to a price. And MDX the cyl.
heads are the same part # as CL-S, however intake valves and cams are different than CL-S.
J35A3/J32A2 ('01-02 MDX/CL-S '01-03) or J35A4/J32A2 (Odyssey '02-04/CL-S '01-03)
advantage: great entire powerband and especially torque.
disadvantage: Need CL-S or RL pistons.
There are also couple options:
Option 1
With '01-02 complete MDX block or '02-04 Odyssey complete block (crank/rods/pistons) it is required to purchase 2005 Acura RL
pistons (new set $50 each) This is a best option still since these pistons have clearance for large 36mm J32A2 (intake) valves
thus no modification needed. Despite the fact they have higher 11.0:1 CR still even supercharger can be used here with low boost
up to 7psi intercooled (assuming safe AFR). In addition, if 11:1 CR is too high for you, you can use '03 CL-S pistons with 10.5:1 CR.
Option 2
'01-03 J32A2 block (CL-S)
Required to purchase the following:
-= hondaautomotiveparts.com =-
'02-'04 Odyssey (crankshaft)
Product No. 368270 or
Honda part #13310-PGK-A00
'02-'04 Odyssey (connecting rod)
Product No. 368269 or
Honda part #13210-PGK-A00
Main bearings + rod bearings
-= acuraautomotiveparts.org =-
'03 CL-S (pistons) - 10.5:1 CR or
'05 RL (pistons) - 11.0:1 CR
pistons rings (per chosen model)
Note: Odyssey pistons do not have clearance to fit large 36mm J32A2 (intake) valves. Solution - custom job to increase valve pockets.
BTW, The only advantage to get J32A2 block is due to better cylinder sleeves to withstand heat designed for higher redline vehicle,
otherwise depending on the price Odyssey or MDX block are the best bet.
Keep in mind, J35A5 '03-04 MDX will not fit on 6th gen. AV6/CL/TL/CL-S/TL-S due to different design, and looks like only for 7th gen.

I think We already have J32A2 Block in TLS. So all i need is the parts you listed. i need for J32A2 block.
All i need is buy the parts. Go to the mechanic, he take the engine out, put it apart and replace the parts to these and im good? Or im still at n0ob status at this?

Supercharger is expensive and will messup ur car in the long run. (thats what i heard) This mod is cheaper and wont do any damage to the car.
I am thinking to go to the same guy who fixed my TLP engine when it was Burned. Its not a performance shop but the mechanics over there only do engine work and replace and fix engines. So i am assuming they know that stuff too.

those are all the parts you will need. You will also need any gaskets that would be taken off during the rebuild. (oil pan, head, intake etc....)
Its not just drop off at the mechanic. Its needs to be rebuilt. You should find a trusted known shop that does rebuilding. they should take the motor and give it a complete overhaul.
You need to remember this isnt like installing a cai. Plan on 1500+ for a Good shop/mechanic o do all the machine work and install the parts. (and i doubt that would include the taking out and reinstalling the engine labor)

True, i know a good Mechanic shop, they usually rebuild the motors. Ill make sure i have enough before i start this project. Since i dont know any 1 who ever did it on a TL, i dont know what problems i will run into. I have to have enough money if i run into some problems. Since i have college rite now, i have to wait til the Holidays to do the work because i will need the car rite now. But ill take the advantage of the time in between and gather up all the information i need and will buy the parts rite now to start up this project.

This performance mod seems very interesting and I must say, many of us who would like to squeeze as much power out of our motor would love to see some pretty good numbers out of this conversion. Don't forget to keep us updated on exact parts you need that are not already mentioned so you could possibly help the rest of us one day. Keep us posted on prices also. Good Luck Man,
P.S. If you ever need any help im local and know a few mechanics that could possibly do the work for you at a good price.

Should run just fine afterwards. Emanage or vafc with tunning would im sure undoubtedly help though
#27
I didn't know if e-manage would be compatible with our cars. Aftermarket is relativly small compared to other Honda/Acura cars. I would think that would be very important to get the most out of the modification. VTEC activation, Duel stage IM activation, a/f, and so on. The current ECU is obviously tuned for what we currently have, so I wouldn't think there would be much of a gain w/out tuning. VAFC seems to be the most cost effective way, but E-manage might be able to get you some more HP.
Does anyone know Jeff Evans? He is a really really good tuner here on the east coast in PA.
http://www.evans-tuning.com/ Anyone interested in this mod should get in touch with this guy about tuning it for the maximum gain in HP/TQ while staying reliable.

This might be a possibility in my future if I keep the TL after warranty. All depends if I get a replacement tranny while it's under warranty. So far the original is doing well =( Gives me time to save up.
Thanks for all the info and that complete list of parts needed.

It sounds like the RL cams work for the 2nd gen in this conversion and could hold more gains.

Unless its back ordered it shouldnt take long for them to get. You could call in the order and talk to the person there at that time to see.
