Intake Manifold Porting and Horsepower
I just picked up an 01-03 Type S intake manifold for the purpose of porting and polishing the unit and installing it in my 01 type S. There are a lot of posts here and some of them contradictory.
Some posts indicate that you can get as much as 10 hp at the wheel with a machine shop CNC porting. I have read terms like "flow benching" and I believe that Sonnick might have had the process done and he is pushing 250 at the wheels which is serious horsepower.
I have read posts that indicate taking too much metal off hurts more than helps. Sure would appreciate some feedback from those of you that have had the process done.....

It helps having other mods like intake, exhaust, headers etc.. If its your only mod gains would be minimal.
To get the best power from it you really need to port match and polish the lower runners AND heads so that it flows optimally. If all your doing is just the upper the time and money really isnt worth it (unless you have time and do it yourself)

im sure you will see gains, but not matching the lowers to the upper and the heads to the lowers is like opening the end of a coke bottle. Sure more air will go in, but there is still a bottle neck when it tapers down
