Talking Installed my Wilwood Superlite 6 pistons BBK!!!

Yeah after a month long waiting on the fucking H&R spacers, finally i got to do it on friday afternoon.

it was smooth and easy, took about less than 3 hrs for the whole brake job with brake fluid drained and service.

at first my mech was afraid that the 13" rotor and calipers would not fit my wheels, but i was very confident since i saw it on a type-S wheel with a 5mm spacer as one of the another car with the same kit on it

but then it fits perfectly!!! and still has some room left between the wheel and the caliper, i was surprised that it has that much room left because the brembos on STi BARELY clears the rim.

the wheels could not fit without a 5mm spacers on the stock 17" wheels, i ordered the H&R spacers because it comes with a longer screws, but it was a waste of money because the stock screws are long enough to support, i should have got teh cheaper spacers for a lot less money. H&R spacers costs me around 80 dollars

after drained the brake fluid and a refill it was ready to go, i can't tell how gd they are right now because i need to break in the pads b4 i can go hard, probably for 300 miles.

the brake feel has improved and so does the stopping power, but not too sensitive which is gd, too sensitive may lock up the wheels in no time or losing control

i had a party last nite so i only took a few shots, more photos are coming up after the weekend

Congrats Sam I am happy to see that you like them and it worked out this well. I am looking to get brembos for my TL coz I am planning to keep it for a while and run it down instead of treading it in or selling it. Not sure if the stock TL-S wheels will clear the 13" Brembo GT Kit with spacers.

thanks for selling them to me, i really appreciated

lucky it fits on my car, or else i would be crazy all over

yea, i really doubt the Brembo GT kit will fit, but hey....don't tell me you can't afford some bad ass rims since u got a S55 AMG LOL

the Brembo GT kit is overrated and overpriced, you may get the rotora for a lot less but same performance

if the Brembo GT kit is about the size of the WRX STi's caliper size, then it might be able to squeeze in with a bare few mm clearance, i do have some more wheel clearance than i orginally thought

I can, infact i have OZ superleggeras sitting here that can clear the Brembos by an inch or so, they have summer tires on them. The OEM wheels have snow tires on them thats why i wanted to make sure that they would clear the brembos.

that is a killer job. am i correct that people originally said it couldnt be done to the stock wheels? when i (hopefully) upgrade to the CT S/C i will definitely have to do this.

Good stuff, but I am pretty confident that when I checked those rotors when they came in, they were indicated as to which side each one was supposed to be on, and that (as shown in the pictures) isn't the right way.

Hey Pure Adrenaline ...

I think I've seen other cars put the rotors on in that orientation. It's supposed to give the brakes 'more bite' (at the expense of changing the pads more frequently). I'll check my bro's C32 and see what it looks like on his car.

[edit] Here's what they look like on a AMG:

Yeah, some rotors are manufactured that way. It depends on the veins, not the direction of the slots/holes. But with those Wilwood rotors, I thought I saw them indicated the other way. Well, I just wanted to make sure that it was done right.

thanks for pointing it out

during the installation we have checked it and it is going to put in this way because that is how to draw the air to cool down the rotors, the vents are not like stock rotor, they have to be one direction in order to draw the air into the vent

looking hot.

there are 2 sizes available for the brembo kit. the smaller one WILL fit the type-s wheels with a 5mm spacer. the larger one requires at least 18inch wheels.

Exclamation Vibration on the BBK?

chilled out with my frds tonite and they asked me to take them for a spin

i was going 100mph and started to brake, then i feel the steering wheel has the vibration and so does the brake pedal, i was like WTF?

i just installed my new BBK a few days ago and have been treated very gentle with the new pads, it shouldn't be any vibration at all

during the first few days i do feel a little vibration in city driving, but i thought it's the slotted rotors so i didn't really pay that much attention. but today the vibration was like my old brakes, so i was kinda freaked out

i decided to change out my OEM brakes because the vibration of the brakes for the past yr or so is annoying when driving on hwy, and now it happens again with my new BBK!!!

so what should i do?? i am very concerned right now since they are brand new and i don't want it has the vibration

Relax, they are just breaking in. Don't do high speed braking for a while. You have to give them time to bed in.

you can bed the pads on your own in about 10 minutes. i used to have a "procedure" for doing this. i will dig it up. i always bed my pads when i put new ones one. usually i do multiple braking runs on the freeway (word of warning: only do this when there is no traffic!).

i would go to 80, brake to 40; back to 60, brake to 40; 50, brake to 40; then do a good stop from 55 to 0 when you're getting off. this should bed them in nicely.

This is the correct procedure to bed in brakes, especially BBK kits. This is what I just went through with my Rotora kit and it worked perfectly.

but you DONT want to do this until you have a few hundred gental miles on the brakes. you want them to heat cycle a few time first.

and the vibration is normal. give it a bit then bed them in, it should go away after that
