HP gain on headers....

do TLP and TLS have different amount of HP gain on headers? I'm considering a comptech header and it seems like the gain on TLS is around 32 whereas on TLP it's barely a 18hp increase...

TLS dyno
http://www.comptechusa.com/images/dyno/2000CLSplot.pdf

TLP dyno
http://www.comptechusa.com/images/dyno/1999TLplot.pdf

or could this dyno chart be wrong?

enlighten me

yes the TL-S makes more with them. and 18+ is barely a increase??? its teh largest increase you can do from just a simple bolt on.

Compared to tls I mean..

How is tls so much different from tlp., engine-wise? Would those "special" parts in tls be a simple replacement for tlp?

the TLS gain is more like 18-22whp with intake and CT headers. i'm not trying to flame anyone but we've seen countless testimonies and dyno's on here to prove that. the CLS tested was most likely a manual tranny, but even at that i still have a hard time believing a 32whp gain.

here is the TL dyno link.

i pulled about 18.3 peak whp and around 19 ft/lbs of torque extra with my headers on the dyno with intake & headers. these are the numbers you should be expecting, realistically.

Unless you have plenty of money to blow, spending $1000+ for 20hp sounds crazy to me. I don't think you could even "feel" the difference 20hp makes in the seat of your pants. If you're racing your car, that's a different story where a tenth of a second might win you a race. Each to his own I guess.

20WHP is a big difference I think. My car responded big time to headers especially better when I go K&N filter and even better since I removed both intake resonators. Much more than a .1 sec difference. More like .5 second difference.

yeah man, i have to completely disagree with you on this. there is a night and day difference with headers on a tl. normally most people can't distinguish 5-10hp changes in their car. but 15+ hp you can definitely feel. like i said, night and day difference.

although i agree, $1200 for CT headers is a waste of money to me when megans deliver the same performance for $300. i spent $40 on header wrap for mine and i have no resonance at all.

Also note that peak gains and max gains are different, which is probably where some of these numbers come from.

The power increase from the headers is VERY noticeable. The RPMs rise more quickly and you can feel the extra pull all throughout the rev range.

Headers are definitely noticable. Probably the only mod where you can actually feel the difference in power. All the other bolt-ons don't give that much compared to headers.

And to the person who said you can't feel 20 whp, you've never driven a -S with no headers, then an -S with headers.

Hell, it was even noticalbe on my car which is a premium.

All? Might want to check your facts before making absolute statements.

Try UR pulley. 13.5 hp and 9.3 ft lbs that's pretty much across the entire (read usable) rpm band, not concentrated at the high end (above 5500 on the 99 TLP) like headers.

Dynos of a modified CL-S only showed less than ten. And it wasn't a UR dyno, but a private one.

And I'm not saying all toghether, but any of them individually.

I didn't think you meant all mods added together. One mod, UR pulley, 13.5 and 9.3.

If you want to start questioning dynos then why believe Comptech?

They are all the same design. If there was any difference in performance, it would be negligable.

Oh, and MikePA, here is that CL-S dyno https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84999

I don't. I think they are high too.

Here is a dyno he did of headers and exhaust https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43547

Headers still give the most gain.

Never said they didn't. What I did say was they provide most of it above 5500 rpm.

Yeah, gives you a lot of confidence in the dyno numbers.

Read the thread and look at the dyno graphs, the cat run was messed up.

Dynapack is SAE and very consistant. Usually within 1 to 2 hp.
