How Nessacary is it to have CROSSED DRILLED SLOTTED ROTORS?
i need rotors really bad, and want to know if i usually drive my car like a bat out of hell, would it be nessacary for me to get crossdrilled slotted rotors or would regular vented do just fine, i do drive alot i may rev it out with someone once in a blue moon but i just wana see if getting regular or Crossdrilled and slotted would be best for me,

its not necessary to have slotted or drilled. blanks will do just fine. it just happens that the rotora are high quality slotted rotors and more prone to resisting warping

Cross Drilled Rotors
I upgraded my stock rotors on my 2002 TLS to a set of 4 cross drilled brembo rotors I found on ebay. I am using stock Acura pads. I noticed improved bite when I have to hit the brakes hard. They have provided an extra sense of security. This comes into play when I am freeway driving and have to slow down fast, when a traffic light changes suddenly, or as I catch up with other cars. Objectively, I would estimate the braking improvement at about 5 feet less distance at 60 mph.

Cross-drilled are more prone to cracking vs. slotted rotors.
I believe there was someone on this board who experienced this and had pictures. It was pretty bad.
In addition to the somewhat negligible brake feel, the looks is primarily why most of us get them. The only real difference in feel may occur on the track vs. regular street driving. But then again, each person 'feels' things differently.

Is cracking due to holes drilled into rotor after it is casted? If holes are casted I believe cracking is minimized.
It is the design and manufacturing quality that matters, you can't make a planket statement that all crossdrilled rotors are prone to cracking - see those installed in Porsche or MB AMG.

yep it was me
x-drilled are great short term rotors for racing, they dissapate heat faster than blanks and slots.
slots geterate more heat by the scrubbing action of the pad but help reduce glazing to teh rotor due to constant scrubbing of the pad.
x-drilled are most prone to cracking due to less material in the rotor and stress

oh and teh grove thru the middle was a rock that got wedged between the rotor and caliper

so im still confused, should i get crossdrilled and slotted rotors, or should i get slotted, or mabey blanks cause i dont want my rotors cracking, i cant afford to keep getting rotors that warp, and i need a good rotor that will make me stop when i need to.

those rotors had over 60k on them when they started to crack.
Slotted and dimpled or just slotted would be best and should last teh longest. i wouldnt worry about them cracking if you get slotted and drilled though. (those rotors had lots of track time and countless 140+ to 0 stops)
