There's a thread in the Perf Parts and Mods section titled:

D.I.Y. Removing the intake resonator

I know it's kinda hard to miss.

I recently did this, but the majority are unaware that this causes your motor to go bad faster. The intake resonator causes a balance between fuel and air flow, without it there is an unbalance which is why some of the members who did this mod received error codes.

All what I learned today from a bud whos a mechanic. My advice is just to get a full exaust system.

Time to undo what I did Saturday.

Ummmm no! Your mechanic is a MORON.

The ONLY purpose for the intake resonator is for sound.

^^There is nothing to worry about. Its my understanding that the intake resonator is only used for reducing sound from the engine. Because it is a "luxury sedan".

LOL!
wow.. you are the most gullible person i've ever met...

you're mechanic is a retard... LOL!!!!!!!!!!

if it really did make an unbalance between the air and fuel mix and really did harm our engines, i don't think like.. 99.9% of us will do this mod or even a CAI...

This thread is now fail. Thanks for tuning in ladies and gents

And OP whichever resonator you do remove-intake or exhaust. The only thing it will do is make your car louder.

Intake resonator=silencer. Common item on many vehicles....its to help eliminate "suction" noise.

I was able to do it by jacking up the driver front a little, unbolt/unfasten the wheelwell splash shield and peel it back. Then unbolted the two/three bolts and out it came.

The time it took you to take your wheel off i could had the bumper off and had the resonator out. (without having to jack up the car, take the wheel off and pry back the splash shield)

Seriously, taking the bumper off takes all of 2-3 min. It takes you longer to get the jack out, remove the lugs and lift the car. Oh well. your time not mine

Quick question about this, i removed my resonator awhile back. Gave the car a nice hum. I recently got a cai. Now there's no hum. Is this correct?
