Headers /Exhaust 03 TL Type S
Hey all. Looking to get headers and full aftermarket exhaust for my 03 TL Type S. Anyone have a setup they would suggest? Not really sure what to get. Don't know much about engines or how to work on them. I am a carpenter by trade so basic stuff I do myself. This I will definitely have a trained mechanic do the work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey gnuts. Thanks for the response. I'm more interested in the power than the sound. I would assume I'll do an intake as well. Want the power upgrade but also don't want drone noise. I've heard other people talk about that with certain exhaust set ups.

XS power sports is an other option, they make a Comptech clone the is pretty inexpensive. I have been running mine for over 80k miles with no issues. There are a couple companies that still make a cat back system for our cars or you can get a Truebends kit and use what ever mufflers you want; built my 3" SS header back for less than $600 with two mufflers.

03 tls nc that helps man. I appreciate it. Was not looking to drop a grand just on materials. Definitely next to come. Currently in the shop getting new housings for the headlights and fogs. New ballasts , bulbs and some nice bright yellow bulbs for the fogs. Gonna look sick.

You'd said you've been running these for a while without issues. Any complaints at all?

Honestly, the next time I have them off I plan to weld bolts on the header collector flange because it is a pain in the butt with out studs (all aftermarket headers come with bolts). Use Honda gaskets at the head and make sure you re-tighten every thing after you install and bring the car up temp. Also in hindsight if buying new I would either have them ceramicoated or use the Eastwood internal ceramic coating be fore installing, to help keep the heat out of the engine bay (not a fan of wrap accuse it shortens header life). With over 50K miles on them now I have had no issues.
