Got a headlight out.....now what?

I just realized my driver side low beam is out. My headlights are cleared and have been getting alot of condensation in them lately. I already swapped bulbs and they both seem fine so i believe it is the ballast, But i've read that the igniters also go bad so before i order a ballast id like to find out. Any help is appreciated.

when the lights have condensation inside it means there is a bad seal -
water droplets then go out the hole at the bottem for the wires and the ballast gets wet shorting it out
thats the most common failure- if it was ignitor you wont get a bulb to light at all

^thanx for the reply. I knew the condensation was going to lead to a fried ballast eventually, ive jus been putting off re-sealing the headlights for a while and now i have to pay the price. Do you recommend baking the headlights, taking them apart and re-sealing them that way or just putting a bead of silicone around the whole thing?

I replaced mine complete- with blacked units from the bay
Otherwise its bake-remove old stuff- install new special stuff- a few choices on- bake it on- try not to melt the plastic mounting tabs for the unit and install
Check the DIY section for your gen for help and pics

to me- a brand new pair at $185 plus 35 ship was a steal, they look awesome and fit perfect- blacked on a grey car----

If you do bake them and put them back together, use the Nissan OEM sealer. From what I've heard it works the best out of them all.

Kind of off topic (but kind of on)... my drivers side headlight is out as well. When I turn on the lowbeams I hear a sort of buzzing noise for a little over one second and then it stops. Does that sound like the bulb or the ballast?

On top of the normal buzzing? Do you get any light out of it at all? have you swapped the burners from side to side yet?

Yea this is a loud buzzing that I've never heard before. Like I said, it only does it for a second or two right when I turn the low beams on and then stops. I haven't tried switching the ballasts yet (if that's what you meant by burners).

I just put my new bulbs in and now i have a buzzing on my passenger side bulb. It's pretty loud being as i noticed it as soon as i stepped away from the driver side door (with the hood up). Maybe this is normal though since i dont think i have ever had the engine off and the headlights on before.

check the underhood fuse box just to be sure you're good.

Unless something seems wrong (lighting functions), don't worry about it.
