Exhaust Question

Anoyone have XS headers or headers in general with their exhaust resonators removed on stock mufflers??? If so, when you installed your headers, did you notice the mufflers sounded like crap? Before the headers, i liked the sound of the mufflers with the resonators removed. Now, they sound terrible! Anyone else agree? or is it just me? How does your exhaust sound with the headers and resonators (factory)? Is it any louder or deepeer than without the headers? I think im going to put the resonators back on, until i can find an affordable comptech cat-back system.

Im interested to see everyone else's replies...

so you noticed a difference with the comptechs, so then i can see why mine is different....i bet if i put the resonator back on, it will sound like it did before i put the headers on with no resonator....well, looks like another weekend project!

Does same thing happen with Comptech Headers? I am planning to put Comptech Headers on. I already have Comptech Cat-Back so Anyone with the same setting, does it sound funny as Niko2000TL describes?

the issue is the removal of the resonators. they stop the funny sounds.

in my opinion it is the best sound ever! especially in vtec...outside sounds amazing! Inside sounds good too...but the outside sound is to die for!

So the small pre-muffler on comptech cat-back stops the funny sound?

- Sorry for hijacking the thread..

your fine you should not get any funny sounds with the full comptech set up.
its the shape sized and angles that create the funny sounds. with the comptech setup all that changes. you should not have any issues.
im stock with no resonators. and xs headers. it also doesnt help that i have a blown muffler.

dont worry your good

Installing an axleback system requires a weld doesn't it?

cool I think I might need to go for a comptech axleback setup one of these days then. That should be about 10x easier to install than those headers.
