engine oil help

hey ppl. i have a 1999 honda inspire ( acura tl in american ) and i'm about to service it for the first time. i want to know what is the best type(weight) of oil i can use. I live in the Bahamas so the weather is warm. I heard that climate has a little factor in engine performance

5w-30 will be the correct weight, look on the oil cap it should say what weight oil to put in, unless that is in Japanese.

not really more marketing than anything, if the cars was a second car that was stored more than it was driven then it's a good option but if it's a daily driver save the money and get regular dino 5w30, also don't use the cardboard filled orange fram filters get a wix, NAPA gold or about any other name brand oil filter that doesn't have FRAM in it's name.

i think starting in 2001 (correct me if i am wrong) honda started specing 5w-20 for added fuel econo, my 2003 says 5w-20 on the cap, but i am currently using 5w-30. which is what these engines were originally designed for, even though they don't care what goes in it 0,5w/20 or 0,5,10w/30.

If you forget when it was last changed how dark should it get? How can you tell when it should be changed?

You CANT judge the condition of the oil by the color.

My oil is like light caramel colored. so time might be the only factor , but I don't know the exact amount nor the mileage but I don't drive far.

You reset the "Maintenance Required" light at every oil change?
