EGR Blockoff

What is the advantage of the EGR Blockoff? P2R makes one for the J series, but I don't know what the advantage is. Will it throw a check engine light?

The EGR pumps exhaust gas into the intake manifold when cold to heat it quickly
Many systems interact on the TL
Only reason to bypass would be prevent the buildup that needs to be cleaned out every 75k miles or so
Do it when you intall a thermoblock spacer or the new one Josh has coming out

Who's Josh? And will it throw the check engine light? Is it worth getting? Any disadvantages?

Where would the plug go that is connected to the egr? I accidentally left mine unplugged after cleaning it and it throws a code. Scared the crap out of me.

Excelerate.

Yes it will throw a code. Its a emissions related item. It recirculates a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. Mixing the incoming air with recirculated exhaust gas dilutes the mix with inert gas, lowering the flame temperature. The exhaust gas also increases the specific heat capacity of the mix lowering the peak combustion temperature. Because NOx formation progresses much faster at high temperatures, EGR serves to limit the generation of NOx. NOx is primarily formed when a mix of nitrogen and oxygen is subjected to high temperatures.

Unless your car is tuned to run without it i see no reason to try to remove it and try to bypass/trick the ecu into thinking its working.

So even if it was tuned for it, not worth it huh?

pretty much. It doesnt really hinder any thing of significance. LIke if you were full blown looking for every single last drop of power maybe bt not for a street car. (especially a ECU that cant be modified/tuned
