Efficent way to get more power??????

I want more power in my 2001 TL. Whats the most efficent way of doing it, is there a chip availble for the TL? IF so where can I get one. Also, If I added a K&N air filter and Exhaust is that gonna even do anything. I just want more power, but dont want anynoise of a loud intake or exhaust. What do you guys recommend. I am new to all the performance stuff. Thanx.

I/E alone don't give much of a gain; but they are necessary when you are modifying your car. Intake, headers, exhaust -- the basic bolt-on's will give your car some extra grunt.

And after you have done what Pure Adrenaline has suggested, you can go with UR crank pulley, throttlebody upgrade (either big bore or TL-S throttlebody), and thermoblok spacers. If you got lots of money to burn, then do a 3.5L upgrade and/or Comptech supercharger. And of course there's also NOS. You could also do a custom turbo instead of a supercharger. All of this will give you more power. But our trannys won't last with all that power on tap, and a tranny replacement with a stronger tranny is definitely required. I hope you got deep pockets, you're gonna need it to do all of this!

We do have an ECU upgrade available for your Acura. Since your ECU does not
have an easily replaceable chip we do require that the ECU be sent to us for
programming. Our ECU upgrade kit contains everything needed to pack and ship
the ECU to us and includes complete instructions, ECU location chart and our
programming specification sheet that you fill out so we know what upgrades
have been done to the vehicle. Next day air return shipping is also included
in the price. The part # to fit your vehicle is 65001, which retails for
$299.95. The kit is available through JET directly or through any of our
dealers.

Once we receive your ECU it will be programmed according to the vehicle
specification sheet to optimize the fuel and timing curves for your specific
modifications. For best results the ECU upgrade should be done after you
complete all of your other upgrades so we can program specifically for them.
We also recommend using at least 89 octane fuel due to the modified ignition
advance. Horsepower gains will vary depending on how the vehicle is
modified, but average gains are 11-13 horsepower to the drive wheels. If you
have any questions you can reach our tech department toll free at
800-535-1161. Our hours are M-F, 8-5 PST.

This obviously breaks the myth that our ECU is not reprogrammable.

But I am worried about its ability to adapt and compensate for new modifications, as this is only a reflash. It's not as easily programmable as, say, Unichip, E-manage, etc.

i knew that it was reprogramable, my dealer said they had the means to reflash/reprogram it (no not just the disconect the battery thing either ), as for adapting it still should but i dont think there wouldnt be any needs since they are resetting the parameters higher (where the ecu tries to compinsate) ??? if that mankes any sense??

Hmm, correct me if I'm wrong....I don't know if sending in the ECU to Jet would be the answer...you'd need to take your car in as well. I mean, didn't we have the same problem with the Unichip awhile back? I read somewhere that the gains from the Unichip for the TL-S were disappointing - one TL-S with mods had reasonable gains, but another TL-S with similar mods had disappointing gains. The reason was that the Unichip was tuned for a specific set of mods, and if your mods differed, results would change. And the only way to guarantee gains would be to individually tune each TL at their shop. Does the same problem exist if you use the Jet chip?

jet has been doing this for man many years and knows the ins and outs of computers. and from from what i understand, wether or not they can get good gains they can andjust and tweak the system. the jet chip isnt avail for the tl. they have to physically reprogram the computer and isnt something they can do with out removing it from the car

for teh price they claim it doesnt seem like a bad thing to try and dyno. (lord knows we all spend money on littel things to improve teh hp of the car)
