Thumbs down Day light running lights

Hi. I bought a 2003 TL a year ago from the US and imported it to Canada. I got the dealer to install DRL. They charged about $200. The dealer says that they had to make my regular lights the DRL lights also. They said they can't do it to the highbeams. Is this true?

The problem is that my driver side headlight inverter went out and probably because the normal headlight has to work for both day and night. Double shift.

Any thoughts?

Should be high beams only...HID's are not meant to be on at lower wattage and constant on/offs...what kind of dealer you got there? A better option would be to use the fog lights as your DRLs if they let you

Deep, yes it's true. For the 2nd gen TL, the Canadian spec. TL (with daytime running lights [DRL]) has a completely different headlight circuitry than the US spec. TL (without DRL). In order to retrofit OEM DRL into an US spec. TL, you virtually have to rip out and rebuild the complete headlight circuitry. It's not like those aftermarket DRL units that only need to splice in a couple of wires.
