most popos wouldnt even notice that your headlights are missing amber inserts

but as long as people know you're signaling to turn there shouldnt be any problems

I believe some states require an amber reflector on the front corners of the vehicle. Of course, on our cars it is built in to the turn signal and is removed with the clearing process. May want to check your state law, but to everyone's point, if you get stopped for that..the cops really don't have anything better to do.

the federal law for cars says amber turn signal in front- and allows for clear lens with amber bulb `when lit`--LED bulbs are legal too

You see clear lens for brake and turn signals on newer motorcycles- they use LED bulbs to make a very bright and definite color when power is applied to them. but when off the bulb disappears in the clear lens!

Oh yeah, good point Tom. For some reason, I thought there were some states that had to have an actual orange reflector, could of sworn I saw something like that back in the day on here in another thread. An amber bulb will keep you blue light free, I'm pretty sure of that

Technically, probably illegal.

Definetly it is here in NC. Why? Law says DOT lights are not to be "modified". There is some other language about changing the output, impeding the light (tinting, eye brows, etc).

I *suspect* that similar language exists in many states.

BTW - these things vary state-by-state. Asking on AcuraZine will often get you answers that may not apply to your state. So have a care to check what the law is in *your* state.

while DOT and other laws do apply- in general- as long as the officer sees yellow color from a front signal when active/flashing, and yellow or red from a rear turn signal,
they can be clear lens- clear looking bulbs...whatever.
New cars and motorcycles have so much of that going on, it looks normal on a TL

Just make sure they dont look red or blue when off~

if you want to get really technical about it:
modding your car at all is actually illegal
Lower it and it no longer meets the crash standard it was tested at, different rim size, exhaust systems....different lights set to different height/angle

I have white led 1157's for my front turn signals, I need to change them to switchbacks. I understand if white front turn signals are illegal cuz with hid's and led's, oncoming traffic can't see the white led's flashing with all the other bright lights on at night. someone almost tboned me at a 4way when i was making a left turn and he/she was going straight. i got to the stop sign first so i made my way going left, but they didn't see my front turn signals... so, if you cleared out your lights, get amber led turn signals to be safe.

I agree. So many different light designs, who knows whats what.

OP asked if it was legal. Probably not.

Will he get hassled? Probably not. As long as it functions properly, amber turn signals, etc. Who's going to know?

so why do dealerships offer optional wheels sizes?
cars come with wheels that vary up to 2 inches in size.. cant see how that would be against the law.

i think that certain things apply to these mods... but swapping exhaust isnt illegal as long as you have the required parts and meet the requirements for emmission in some states.

now the light angles, i agree with...

actually I do believe its Illegal. I'm not 100% but I"m sure that its required to have a reflector in it so if you remove your amber reflector then that would be illegal. My find got a ticket wayyyyy back in the day on his civic and the cop said it was not because it was clear, but because there wasnt a reflector. Makes sense
