you want airflow around the calipers to cool the brakes

duplicolor sells a kit $10 with everything you need- except buy a pack of foam throwaway brushes- the paint dries fast in them and kit only has 1, you need more to do multiple coats of the paint for longest life and best look

prep is 90% of the job, spray cleaner- wire brush or wire wheel on drill to clean and roughen surface,,makes the paint stick/grab better
get every part of the calipers exterior that you can

Mask off the piston with painters tape
and dont paint the internal side of where bolts go- leave the mating surfaces clean

do ck the bolts for caliper to bracket- remove the pin inside rubber boot and clean-relube with caliper grease
makes a differance on how smooth the brakes work and retract
